Vehicle Detail
Here is an interesting one: 1977 Honda GL1000, first generation Goldwing. If you want a show bike, this might not be for you.If you want something different, read on. It's been with us for a few years and mostly used in photo shoots, shows, films and promo videos. It's in almost original condition, bar a few changes before we got to it and some we've done.It didn't run when it arrived and the previous owner had removed a lot of parts. We initially bought for it to chop it up for a shoot but it was too nice, so we found another one and lovingly revived this one. One of it's greatest features is the "Patina": nicely worn in with signs of usage and a lot of feel. We called it Wabi Sabi as it's imperfections are a huge appeal and gets a lot of attention and comments every time we take it out: rare, unusual, different, retro, cafe racer, cool 70's bike... They don't make them like they used to! Once you open her up, she really goes! A little on the heavy side, this Goldwing has a lot of torque and pulls like a train!Recently took a few trips for shoots and surprised ourselves in Ukiah, Oregon and The Sierras. This GL killed every road and came back wanting more! When we started, we took care to gently take apart [not tear down, see photo] and diagnose as we went.I had the help of a local "Honda head" who really went to town on the wiring harness and electrics, set ignition timing and engine tuning. Additionally another classic Honda aficionado gave it more love and we got it road ready. Work completed: We cleaned everything, she needed it! New battery [May 2018]New NGK spark leads + boots + 4 x NGK D9EA plugsNew Wiring harness, relays, fuse box and fuses New Starter solenoid [the original still works and is included + and additional spare new one] Dynatek Dyna S Electronic ignition and set static ignition timing. It took a while but now dialed in correctly. All fluids drained and replenished: radiator flushed, coolant, final drive, oil/filter twice in 200 milesRemoved drained and cleaned fuel tank.Cleaned carburetorNew fuel lines and filters.Air box and filter cleaned Cam belts have also been replaced.Compression tested and valves have been set. Brakes bled, replenished, pads checked and work great [the back brake is particularly sharp]All lights work, original front headlight /bucket, original turn signals and custom rear LED.Beautiful original instrument cluster in awesome vintage Honda green [see photo]: all gauges work including speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauge.New handle bars, very comfortableNew seat upholstery on original GL seat pan [$250]Has rare luggage rack on tankWe've added a start button as the original one works but not reliable. That's what we can remember at the moment! Comes with 2 keys, original Honda tool kit + owner's manual, Clymer workshop manual and original dealer shop rag.We also have a step by step pdf of the work carried out as we followed the Factory Honda GL1000 workshop manual [not included] There's a box with all the parts that were replaced. Additional spares include a complete spare carburetor, tires [front and rear], 2 sets of bar end mirrors, levers, foot pegs and spare headlight bucket assembly. Needs: Front fender if you're going back to stockMatching rear side covers: someone before us rattle caned the right side in matte black. The left cover is black with original Goldwing decals.Needs key for tank lid, but works fine without one.Honda tank badges, someone stole the last setNeeds to be ridden... Title:I've marked the bike as salvaged, which it is NOT. Previous owner had lost paper work.DMV couldn't find it on the system the first time I went. They said it was off the books. The second time I went, they mentioned back fees $500, then said they were lower but couldn't clarify... I haven't found the time to go back and on that basis, I'm listing it low with no reserve.I will issue a bill of sale and a signed affidavit which is all the DMV for title transfers.Currently unregistered. Overall this is a very cool and special bike. We are sad to part with it, but relocation forces a very reluctant sale. This is a cool slice of 70's Honda history as well as a proper road warrior. Ride it as is, customize it and turn it into a cool minimal/ cafe racer or restore it back to it's original Honda GL1000 glory.Either way, these are rare and it's getting harder to find a good one. I looked at many GL1000's before I found this one. Terms:Please only bid if you're genuinely interested.I have described the bike as honestly as I can Cash on collection preferred.$500 due via Paypal at end of auction. All questions welcome,Thank you for checking this out
