The 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner was a stunning body style in 1959 with its power retractable - "Hide-Away" - hardtop and still is some 58 years later !! The retractable hardtop operation was a mechanical symphony orchestrated by 4 lock motors, 4 lift jacks, 10 relays, 3 drive motors, 10 limit switches, 8 circuit breakers and an extra 610 feet of wiring !! We recently purchased this Skyliner Retractable from the daughter of the ORIGINAL OWNER who was her father !! She inherited this BEAUTY 25 years ago when her father passed away and as you can tell in the pictures and video it was the family's pride and joy !! She told us that the odometer reading of 96,140 miles were the actual original miles however the odometer/speedometer stopped working shortly after we purchased the car and we had to have it replaced with a rebuilt working unit. It still retains it's correctly mounted - FACTORY ORIGINAL - driver's door pillar mounted Ford data / VIN plate which is shown in a picture. This is a NICE - DRY - SOLID - Washington state - Idaho High Mountain Desert - Western car and it shows! I drove this car for the last several days as my everyday driver and it ran and drove GREAT !! Sounds GREAT too with the factory style true dual exhaust system with dual chrome tips. The engine is backed by a SMOOTH - ORIGINAL - Code "4" - "Cruise-O-Matic" - three speed - automatic transmission which is also functioning very well. The BEAUTIFUL !! - NEW - Code "56" - Torch Red Sof-Textured Vinyl and Raven Black Fabric Galaxie Skyliner interior is in VERY NICE !! condition including a VERY NICE NEW Torch Red Sof-Textured Vinyl and Raven Black Fabric front bench seat, VERY NICE NEW Black carpeting, NICE ORIGINAL Galaxie steering wheel, VERY NICE NEW Matching Torch Red and Raven Black Vinyl door panels, VERY NICE ORIGINAL Factory gauge clusters, VERY NICE NEW Colonial White Vinyl headliner, NICE ORIGINAL White Vinyl sun visors and a VERY NICE NEW Torch Red Sof-Textured Vinyl and Raven Black Fabric Silver Vinyl rear seat. All of the black rubber weatherstripping is soft, supple and in good condition. The BEAUTIFUL - Code "AE2" - Two Tone - Raven Black and Colonial White exterior finish is EYE POPPING BEAUTIFUL !! showing some very small chips and imperfections that have been touched up but still looks GORGEOUS as you can clearly see in the VIDEO & 100 ADDITIONAL PICTURES !! This Skyliner Retractable Hardtop comes nicely equipped including factory power steering, factory power wipers, factory front wing windows, original chrome driver's side view exterior mirror, factory front seat belts, factory power wipers, factory gauge clusters with 120 MPH speedometer, good heater and defroster, working factory power "Hide-Away" retractable hardtop, original clock which is no longer working, original AM radio which is no longer working and factory back up lights. This Skyliner Retractable Hardtop has GORGEOUS looks and AWESOME 352 "Interceptor" V8 power as well... what's not to love ?! The suspension and drive line all seem to be in good working order as well as the electrical system. All of the ORIGINAL Chrome and Stainless Steel exterior body trim and moldings are in GOOD condition including NICE ORIGINAL badging, NICE ORIGINAL Chrome front and rear bumpers and NICE ORIGINAL Chrome and Stainless Steel Grill and headlight surrounds !! Take a look at the AWESOME - FACTORY ORIGINAL - Ford stainless steel wheel covers and BRAND NEW whitewall steel belted radial tires, boy does this combination look OUTSTANDING on this Skyliner and really retains that CLEAN - "Factory Original" look !! The Clean - Solid trunk also sports the ORIGINAL Style liner. All of the ORIGINAL light lenses and reflectors are clear, bright and BEAUTIFUL !! This vehicle is in nice mechanical condition and it runs and drives very well. I looked underneath and also included photos below.
