Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Up for sale is a fully restored turn-key street legal candy sapphire blue 1971 z50a K2 Mini Trail frame number Z50A-31985, Engine number Z50AE-303465 with current California title & registration paid until august of 2018; all the work is done including the annoying trip to the DMV. This bike has been painstakingly refurbished and has so many new parts you will think you are looking at a new bike. This was not some quickly put together restoration. First I choose the most complete street legal Z50A, in the best overall condition, with all original parts I could locate; no cracks or welds on the frame. Correct engine and frame numbers, near perfect condition fuel tank and headlight bucket (all the painted parts; frame, tank, headlight bucket, rims and brake light bracket) are bead blasted chemically treated and powder coated silver, black or sapphire candy blue; by Olympic powder coating the best in the business. Powder coating is far more durable and looks much better than the original chalky old OEM paint. NOTE; The fuel tank has two small dents-No dent fillers can be used in the powder coating process.. This was the best overall condition Honda OEM tank I could find both inside and out. As a collector of vintage Honda Z50 Mini Trail motorcycles I always favored the 1971 Z50A K2 Model because it has a real motorcycle style foot operated rear brake pedal in addition to the two hand brakes and was also the last model to be sold as a dual purpose street legal motorcycle. Has a working high/low beam headlight and functional tail/brake light. I also hated replacing the 6v batteries on my 69’ Z50a K0. This model has only the magneto with no battery to worry about. An automatic clutch and 3 speed transmission makes it easy to ride. Only weighs 120 lbs. and the handlebars fold down for easy transport. Foot pegs and buddy pegs fold up. The z50 fits in the truck of a car, back of a pick-up, aboard a boat, in a plane. You may want to display the bike or just have fun running around the trails or your neighborhood. Unlike most motorcycles the vent can be closed for safety in transportation or just while being displayed as I did in my office where there is no gas smell. The following description will give you an idea as to what was done to complete this vintage collectable Mini Trail. I’ll try to take detailed photos of the bike so please view carefully before bidding: I think anyone would agree that this bike looks fantastic but unless you have restored one yourself you can’t really appreciate the amount of labor and money it takes to restore one of these bikes to this level. So bid with confidence knowing that every effort has been made to create this level of bike! Please read and understand both the shipping and payment details before bidding. Aftermarket or non original parts; The rear fender is a OEM Honda 1969 style fender not the original 1971 duck bill looking style simply because I like the short 1969 style fender look, the little round tool box is an aftermarket from a general export model and holds your registration papers, buddy pegs, and extra spark plug. The speedometer odometer is lighted and functional (but not accurate) also from a vintage Honda. Engine and Transmission; The motor and transmission have been completely rebuilt, cases split, bead blasted and painted. New bearings, , gaskets, seals, oil pump, timing chain, gears, clutch, points, spark plug, all hardware nuts & bolts including the drain plug and oil dip stick and a new 49cc piston/rings and sleeve kit. The motor has all Honda aftermarket or Japan made parts, no china parts. The seat is adjustable and is set to the higher level and is very comfortable for me and I’m 6’1” and 170lbs. The 3-Speed transmission shifts like butter and the new Honda replacement clutch engages as it should. The best thing about this Z50 is its street legal and can be ridden anywhere!. With only .49cc’s and the 10mm Keihin carburetor this motorcycle is very quiet and defiantly won’t wake up the neighbors. Not a powerhouse but can still pull an average size person of 150-200lbs up to about 25 miles per hour. Front Fork Assembly was rebuilt with new fork seals & boots and the triple clamp was polished. It has a new steering nut. I installed new NOS fork reflectors and rubber bases. Steering Assembly was rebuilt with new bearing assemblies top and bottom, NOS grips & hi/low switch. It has new brake and throttle cables with new rubber grommets for the wiring. It has new K2 handlebars and new throttle assembly. It has new NOS brake levers and screws that hold them to the bar. It has new OEM handlebar knobs. Electrical system; new Ignition switch, head lights low and high beam, brake lights operate when foot brake or either hand brake are pressed, speedometer light works, red high beam indicator light work. Shipping & Handling; Local pickup recommended. I can drain the fluids, professionally pack and crate the your z50 Mini Trai for you at no charge. NOTE; Buyer is responsible for making all the shipping arrangements from Foothill Ranch Ca. 92610. I can forward you the total weight and crate dimensions upon completion. Payment Details; I require a $500 non-refundable deposit to be paid within 24 hours after the close of auction through PayPal. The rest I want paid within 7 days by Cashier’s Check, Bank Wire or Cash (U.S. funds only). All funds must clear prior to shipment. Additional Comments; I have listed and described the motorcycle to the best of my knowledge. This took several years to complete and included many steps and parts so if I missed something please send your specific question as a message through eBay. ANYONE WITH LESS THAN A 5 FEEDBACK PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING Great little piece of motorcycle history from almost 50 years ago. Perfect for the motor home or just crusin around the neighborhood, almost everyone has a story about some model of the Honda Mini Trail so you’re guaranteed to get a conversation going wherever you ride it and you can get it just in time for Christmas. Thanks for looking
