Reportedly, BMW produced 3,530 R60 motorcycles between 1956 to 1960 before beginning production of the R60/2. Based on this unit's serial number, we believe it to be a final year bike. We have fully inspected the bike with a health check report. It has been washed and detailed. See our report below. It starts, runs and idles well. We ran it briefly to confirm the condition and health of the drivetrain, but prior service history is unknown. Buyers should plan to do a slinger service before further use. We are selling this bike as-is for a new owner to take to whatever level they choose. Service Report We believe the paint on the frame, tank and front fender to be original. Paint on the tank is thin and scratched, but intact. The rear fender and taillight housing appear clean and uniform, but close inspection indicates likely rattle-can respray. The bike ran well and shifted normally through all gears during our brief parking lot assessment. The brake linings and drums appear in good working order and lever feel is smooth. Rear brake is nearing the end of its adjustment. There are oil leaks/seeping from engine, transmission and final drive and we recommend fresh fluids and seals during the bikes recommissioning. We removed old gas and flushed tank. After adding fresh gas, petcock operates properly and flows to carburetors. Fuel lines are dry and cracked. They should be replaced along with a new filter and carburetor service. Compression is excellent, but we are detecting some leakdown through the rings. We cleaned up the battery wiring and installed a fresh 6-Volt battery. Mufflers are not original, but in good shape and have a very nice, deep, throaty note.
