    1972 FORD GRAN TORINO SPORT FASTBACK Purchased from the original owners son, this car was special ordered in 1972. The gentleman who ordered it took the day off from work and watched it  come down the assembly line at the Atlanta (Hapeville) Ford plant. It has been in Georgia all its life. Ford did not offer black as a color  choice on Gran Torino in 1972, if you wanted black, it was a special order. Note the blank paint code on the warranty decal and the 6 digit DSO.  Proof of special order paint, making this one of the very few triple black Gran Torinos built in 1972. Black vinyl roof, black interior, and black  paint. Other notable options are the Q code 4V Cobra jet 351 Cleveland engine and heavy duty C6 transmission. Magnum 500 chrome wheels, hood  scoop, factory air conditioning, P/S, PDB, and 9 inch rear axel. Because of the vinyl top, the roof has rusted beyond repair. We are including a good used fastback roof panel with the sale, we just do not have time to  replace the roof and restore this beauty, but someone should. The car has been stored outside most of its life, so there are some issues with rust. It  has not seen salted roads, so the frame and suspension are solid. The leaking roof has caused the floor to rust in spots. The Left door and 1/4  panel were replaced at some point, and shoddy bodywork led to rust in the bottom of the L 1/4 panel. Bottom corner of Right door is weak, also core  support and battery apron have rusted through. Trunk floor looks good, as does the left door and fenders. Small rust holes in underside of hood, but  still solid overall. Air conditioning system looks complete, compressor is off, and in the trunk.. We have tuned the 351CJ and redone the fuel system, and done enough brake work so the car runs and drives. Transmission goes in drive and reverse fine, but we have not had it up to highway speeds. This was not a laser stripe car, it had the wide body side moldings, which the complete set is included with all four wheel opening moldings. Both  valance panels under the bumpers were not with the car. We can include both front and rear valances if the buy it now button is used. No title,  sold will bill of sale.
