Finally selling my '54 Mercury. I've had it since 2001, ran the LaCarrera Panamericana in Mexico; which is a 2,200 mile road-race from the Southern tip of Mexico to Laredo, Texas. The car was from Nevada when I got it, so it's pretty solid. I did take it out to the Bonneville Speed Week a few years back, and the salt has prompted some surface rust. The car is street legal, but it would be race ready with a new fire system, and up-to-date belts and window nets. You could run the LaCarrera, the Targa Newfoundland in Canada, or Vintage Racing almost anywhere! The body itself is still stock, so you bring it back to original look. It has a 302 H.O. that has about 5,000 miles on a fresh rebuild and clutch after the race. It has an Edelbrock manifold and 600 cfm carburetor with a Holley electric fuel pump. We installed a brand new World Class T-5 5 speed tranny from Summit just before the race, so it probably has about 8,000 miles on it. It also has power 4-wheel disc brakes, and rack and pinion steering. It has Koni Oval Track Racing Shocks all around, but I think the left front one might need rebuilding, cause it dives slightly when hitting a big dip. The car handles well, and is very reliable; I just drove it back from Florida over 1,100 miles a few weeks ago, and got over 16 m.p.g! The only thing it would need to be a daily driver would be door windows and mechanisms; we removed them way back when for weight, and because we didn't really expect to make it back from Mexico.
