****more pictures coming soon**** This is a 2006 VW Golf hatchback. I got it a few months ago at an auction that was selling off high end stereo equipment from a retail location that was closing. I bought several items and when they auctioned off the company vehicles I bought this one and used it to haul all of the items I bought from Delaware to South Carolina. It ran fine and handled the 600 mile trip no problem. I liked the way it rode so I started using it as my daily driver up until last week when I suddenly heard a loud clicking sound and the check engine light came on. I was in a rural area at night so I kept driving hoping I could make it home. After a few miles I made it to the city of Sumter SC when it stalled at a traffic light. l couldn't get it started again. The next day I had it towed to a repair shop and they told me that the timing belt had broken and damaged the valves and to repair it would be pretty expensive. I think one option was over a thousand dollars and it would be over 2 thousand to put in a new engine and timing belt and everything. I really don't have that much to spend on an extra car so I'm selling it like it is with no reserve. Some more information about the car: When I bought it it was completely wrapped in vehicle wrap by the company that owned it. It was apparently wrapped when it was new in 2006 and never changed so when I got it there were some areas where the wrap was cracking which made it a nightmare to remove, but I got most of it off using a heat gun and underneath it all, the car was actually white. There are still a couple spots here and there that still have little pieces of wrap that just need to be peeled off. (I was just doing it in my spare time and hadn't gotten around to finishing it). The good thing is having the wrap on all those years probably preserved it in some ways so the paint actually doesn't look bad for a car that is 8 years old. There are also a couple spots where you can see glue that needs to be removed. After a lot of trial and error I found a product that can get it off pretty easily but I was waiting for a sunny day to finish it up when the car broke down. When I was driving the car the alignment felt straight so I don't think the car was in any major accidents. There is a spot on the passenger corner back bumper that has cracking so it was probably in a minor accident at some point or maybe they bumped into something backing up. Other than that I think any dents are just small nicks from rocks hitting it or whatever during normal use. The passenger side side view mirror was loose and I bought a replacement on ebay but they sent me the wrong one so I don't have a replacement for it. The interior is not torn but has some staining and could use a cleaning and detailing (another thing that I didn't quite get around to). The plastic on the hatchback is scratched up from use and I think the headliner has some wear. One of the wheel covers is missing. I bought a set of four of the plastic wheel covers on ebay for it but haven't put them on yet. I will give them to whoever buys the car. It came with one key-it is the good one with the button for the doors and hatchback that folds into a square. The radio worked fine and all the electric windows worked. I had just bought new front and back rotors and pads from Pep Boys about a week before the car stopped running, but they seemed to be rubbing some so I had planned to take the car back in to have them adjust them. The car has a roof rack. I don't have a key for it but there is a code on it and I think you can order a key for it. (I don't think you need it to use the roof rack-I'm guessing you could just tie stuff to it- but if you wanted to take the rack off you'd probably need the key). The car had a Pennsylvania State inspection and Emissions sticker through 2015 when I got it so if you are using it for parts the catalytic converter is probably good. There was no check engine light on it until the timing belt went. That's all I can think of for now, but if I can remember anything else I will update the listing. I will also add some more pictures over the weekend. Please ask questions if you have any. I'm starting the auction at 99 cents with no reserve to make sure it sells since it is sitting at the auto repair shop now and they were nice enough to let me leave it there for 10 more days. Hopefully someone can make some use of this car, even if it is just for parts. (I'd hate to think I spent all that time peeling the wrap off of it only to drive it for a couple months :) On Dec-30-14 at 14:04:09 PST, seller added the following information: Update. I went over and took some more pictures of the car. Some things to note: One of the spearkers in the back door is cracked, as shown in the picture. Also there is a piece of black plastic trim missing on the front drivers side. The seats have some staining but no tears. Normally I would have had the inside of this car vacuumed and detailed but since it stopped running suddenly I didn't have a chance and every time I have gone over to take pictures the weather has been bad. Also notice that the car includes floor mats and I have the headrests that go on the back seats. Also, I found a code on that roof rack. When I Googled it I found someone in UK selling a key for about $3.00 US , assuming the maker of the lock in the rack is Thule.
