W West Coast Classics are proud to present an extraordinarily rare and completely rust free genuine 'barn find' (garage really!) example of this coveted 1968 1/5 Jaguar XKE E-Type Series 1.5 2+2 Coupe with an automatic transmission with it's original and matching #'s 6 cylinder 4.2L/246HP engine with the rare factory twin cooling fans and adjustable seat backs and with a black leather interior and five original Jaguar wire chrome wheels! This is a beautiful rust free example with the engine purring like a sewing machine with no rough idles or stalling, the transmission shifting smoothly all the gears, the suspension is tight and there is no road wobbling or rattling and the temperature always remains cool - all indicative of a well maintained and obviously always garaged car. The floor boards and all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid and rust-free! The car has no signs of any major accidents of any kind and has a very straight body. It's 'Pale Primrose' color paint is very striking and still quite stunning and the interior is seemingly very original with lovely black leather seats and carpets and with the original door panels, headliner and dashboard all in very fine condition throughout. Please note the car also has it's original spare chrome wire wheel located in the trunk and an after market CD player professionally installed in the dash. Please note: FOLLOWING THE 'SERIES 1' (1961-68) THERE WAS A TRANSITIONAL SERIES OF CARS BUILT BETWEEN 1967-68 UNOFFICIALLY CALLED THE 'SERIES 1.5' AND THEY ARE EXTERNALLY SIMILAR TO THE 'SERIES 1' CARS WITH THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS ABOVE THE REAR BUMPER ETC BUT WITH NEW AMERICAN INFLUENCED FEATURES OF OPEN HEADLIGHTS, DIFFERENT SWITCHES & SOME SLIGHT DETUNING WITH THE NOTICEABLE DOWNGRADE FROM THE ORIGINAL TRIPLE CARBS TO THE TWIN ZENITH-STROMBERG CARBS FOR THE US MODELS THERE WERE ONLY 1,577 LHD SERIES 1.5 2+2 COUPES & ONLY 404 RHD 2+2 COUPES BUILT COMPARED TO 3,616 SERIES 1 2+2 COUPES & THE LOW PRODUCTION NUMBERS ON THESE CARS MEAN THAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY QUITE SIMPLY AMONGST THE RAREST OF ALL PRODUCTION E -TYPES! This unofficial series shared many of the characteristics of the Series II cars, though in varying degrees. Many simply had open head lights, with the rest of the Series 1 details the same, while others had a different dashboard and other detail items. These cars were numbered in the same series as the Series 1 4.2 cars and officially they never existed according to Jaguar. However, most enthusiasts agree that there is enough of a difference for them to be considered separately and they have long since been known and highly coveted by enthusiasts as the Series 1.5.
