Vehicle Detail
This classic car is being sold as part of my late brother's estate. I am not as familar with the car as I would like to be, but will do my best to describe it. I strongly encourage questions, and will provide additional photographs if requested. If you wish to inspect the car in person just contact me and I can set up a time to see it. I am offering the car with a low reserve. It is sold as is and where is, so please be prepared to arrange pick up or shipping within 10 days of the end of the auction. My brother purchased this car a little over two years ago, and never had a chance to enjoy it. It has 39116 original miles as verified on the title. The car was painted and new stripes applied after he purchased it, but the car was put in storage before the paint job could be "finished" after it cured. It needs rubbed out to make the finish smooth, then a coat of wax applied. At the same time he had the exhaust system replaced including new manifold gaskets. A dual exhaust with straight through mufflers really gives the big block a nice rumble. There may have been gaskets replaced on the engine, but I can't verify it. The engine doesn't leak but the transmission has a minor leak. The plugs, wires, distributor cap, etc. look as if they are new, as well as the belts and hoses. The car runs and drives great. I've driven it around town a little and it is a real head turner. The brakes were grabby at first, but settled down after the rust wore off the drums. The tires have good tread, but may have some dry rot. The glass is in good shape, no cracks and in working order. The chrome trim and bumpers has some minor pitting, and there are some small dents in the trim around the headlights. The hidden headlights work well, a little slow but that may be normal for a vacuum actuated system. There is some surface rust underneath the hood, doors, and trunk lid. Along the trunk edge, and the rear lip of the trunk lid is some major rust that will take more than sanding to repair. The interior is in relatively good condition for the age of the car. The carpet is original and in pretty decent shape. The front dash is cracked through the middle at the speaker (apparently typical for this model). The rear shelf is in rough shape, but in one piece. The seats, front and rear, are in good shape without tears or excessive wear. The armrest on the driver side is worn along the edges and there is a small tear at the bottom of the door panel on the passenger side. There is a missing reflector at the rear corner panel on the driver side all the other lenses are intact. The front seat had been repositioned about 4" rearward with holes drilled through the floorboard to accomodate it. I have returned it to the original position and filled the holes with bolts, nuts and fender washers to seal the holes. This classic is 45 years old and in remarkable shape. It has not, with the possible exception of the exhaust system, been altered from its original condition. With just 39K on the odometer I would believe it is among the lowest mileage cars from this era. This car could very easily be restored to show car quality with little work and less money than most. The successful bidder will be required to make a $750 deposit within 48 hours of the end of the auction and the remainder of the balance due within 10 days. Car must be picked up within 10 days, it is the buyers responsibility to arrange pick up or shipping. Take a good look at the pictures and I'll gladly send more if you want a particular shot taken, and I will answer any questions you have. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
