Vehicle Detail
What a great Christmas present this would make for your favorite collector. RESERVE HAS BEEN LOWERED !!! Here is a primo 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 110 HP PowerGlide with 34 thousand ORIGINAL miles. All matching numbers and some history: The car was originally bought by a couple in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. They had it for almost 25 years and must have kept it in their dining room on a table because there is so very little rust on this car if’s unbelievable. Pictures 21 & 23 show rust on a lower panel and that’s it. Even the tunnel pan looks brand new. The car was then bought by a Corvair enthusiast in Buffalo, Oklahoma. He did a small amount of restoring, such as the windshield replacement and interior replacement. During his tenure with this car, he discovered that he had indeed help build this car when he worked for Chevrolet in 1965. Somewhere along the process ( he doesn’t remember exactly what he’d done on the line back then) he touched that car! I bought it from him in 2008 and trailered it back to Oklahoma City. The car looked so good and ran so good, I didn’t have to do anything to it to get it ready for shows (other than wash and wax and clean the windows). Further investigation showed that it was the original miles on the odometer as well as the original paint. You can see some of the “spot” painting that someone had tried and the original “over spray” from the factory painting. The color is Aztec Bronze and I searched for years for a Monza with this package and trim and color. I’d had one in 1966 before I was called to do my stint in the military. It breaks my heart to have to sell this baby now. It’s the last of a nice collection of cars we had for awhile. They had to be sold off because of illness in the family We had an old Buick, a TR3, 2 old Fords, 2 old Chevy’s and two Corvairs, And bits and pieces of several other cars. Won lots of trophies. Please email me with any questions about the car. I will answer everyone. The car will also be listed on local and Oklahoma City area web sites and newspapers, so if suddenly the cars listing goes away, that pretty much means it’s sold. A PayPal deposit of $500 will be needed at the close of the auction by the winner and full payment within 7 days of close of the auction. Final payment must be in a cashiers check or cash, or a bank money order. The winner is responsible for the shipment of the car, however, I can transport it for the winner within 250 miles of Oklahoma City for $300. Any further is calculated at aprox $1 per mile and will be discussed. I just got done delivering a car to a broker in Los Angeles and it’s going to Australia!! All trans shipping would be dependant on the weather too! This is a beautiful car, runs solid, doors and windows are solid, brakes are in good condition and carbs clean and clear. Corvairs are known for a couple of inherent problems. Number 1, they leak oil. Number 2, they leak oil! Number three they leak oil. Any Corvair I ever had ( and I’ve had 6 of them) leaked oil no matter what you did to it. I had this Corvair in a storage shed for many a moon, and each time I went to the shed to get something or pack something else into it, I started it and it just plain starts right up with no problem. Underneath? A spot no bigger than a nickel (before inflation). I was amazed as well as happy. Now it's in my garage waiting to go to a new home. Good luck and remember to ask questions.
