Vehicle Detail

Special Factory order color combo of Roman Red and Riverside Red. Most gorgeous 1963 Impala ever built! Exterior: Roman Red & Riverside Red-Paint code 950 Interior: Black Serial Number: 31847A150951 Mileage: 6,157 (since complete high-dollar restoration) In 1962 I owned a Black 409 SS that I campaigned. "Black Thunder" After getting thrashed by the Ram Chargers from Pasadena,CA. at the Nationals in Indianapolis, I sold my 409 Z-ll for $6000 (a lot of money in 62) Driven by a woman and getting passed in 4th gear like I was tied to a post was more than my ego could handle. The following year I started racing Blown/Injected/Drag Fuel Hydros in Perris, California...there were no girls in that sport at that time! LOL. I had won the NHRA Winter Nationals in February at Daytona Beach,FL with a 12:44 et and 116mph and felt pretty good...until getting "my doors blown off" at the Nationals. I called my sponser,Uncle, Jim Rathman, who presently is the oldest living Indy 500 winner (1960 winner of the Indy 500) and when I told him I lost to a chick driving a Dodge that looked like a taxi cab with an automatic transmission, he said "Kid, I think it's time you take up a new sport" So I did.....I bought a 1962 Olds Starfire off the showroom floor of Dick Fincher Oldsmobile in Miami and when I drove it back home, my Dad said..."you don't need a fancy car like this with air conditioning and full power" I loved my Dad & Mom so I flipped him the keys and said "It's yours Dad...just get me another Chevy" I bought a new 1963 Impala SS from Luby Chevrolet in Miami with the 327/300hp engine and 4 speed transmission in Riverside Red...it was probably the best and most trouble free Chevy I have ever owned! I went to "Johnnie & Mack at the Railroad Track" on N.W. 27th Avenue and had a Mark IV AC unit installed. If you want Ice Cold, Brand new vintage Air-conditioning installed, we can have it done for you at our cost, $1695. This car up for auction really is gorgeous! We realize the photos look great...but it is even more spectacular in person! It has the Factory tach which works. The prior owner added the 3 gauges you see...Oil Pressure, Water Temperature and Ampmeter. In 1963 Chevy only had "idiot lights" so I think it would be a good idea to leave them...even though they were not available from the factory. The problem is by the time a light comes on and says "HOT" or "LOW OIL PRESSURE" it is usually too late! It was a special factory ordered car with the most incredible paint I have ever seen on any car from the early 1960's. It has a custom paint code of 950. If you go to www.autocolorlibrary.com you will not find this code in 1963....That is because this was a special central purchase office request for a unique and special color. If you knew someone at the Chevrolet Zone office back in this era...you could have almost anything you wanted ordered...even custom factory paint colors. Today, with the modern hand held paint computers, any color can be easily matched and blended. I was informed by the prior owned it is a factory combination of Roman Red & Riverside Red. This was a very expensive restoration. All new seats, carpeting, headliner. All the chrome was redone and the trim is new NOS. The car is a dream to drive. It appears to have it's factory original 327cid V-8 but as you can see some of the hoses were changed to braided steel lines, and it has a performance intake & a Holley 4bbl carburator. (we don't have the original cast iron manifold or Carter AFB 4bbl or air-cleaner) Also the alternator was chromed. The car is laser straight...no sign of previous body work or bondo. It shifts like a DREAM...no noises or grinding in the transmission. Clutch is perfect! It starts up every time....the 1st time and I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere.,..anytime. It has Power Steering, Power Brakes, tinted glass and it'd original Delco AM Radio. All the lights and electrical work just fine. The trunk and floorpans look to be factory original and are excellent. I see no signs of any rust on this car! Past or present. If you would like to receive all the photos you see in high definition and in Jpeg format, please write to me at luvdg@aol.com and I will e-mail them to you.
