This auction is for a low mileage 1989 Porsche 944 S2 Coupe. The engine starts right up, and the 5-speed shifts through all gears just as it should. The 16v 3.0 engine pulls strong, propelling the car to run and drive as it should. As you probably know, the S2 has the power of a turbo (208 hp) without the hassle or lag of a turbocharger. This car does have some minor and cosmetic issues though, which means that it is offered with an extremely low reserve, ready to sell to the highest bidder. Please read through my thorough description to get an accurate idea of both the highlights and areas needing attention on this car. It is not a garage queen or a concourse winner, but it is ready to be an excellent driver or running track/street project. Mechanical: The car starts right up and runs smoothly both at idle and under load. The tranny shifts well through all gears with no grinds or slips. The clutch engages properly and fully, but somewhat high. The dash warning light indicates that the brake pads need to be replaced, but the car does steer and stop properly with no excessive vibrations or other issues. I do not have any recent service or maintenance records for this car. The original Porshce service book is included, but it is sparsely filled, and all of the records there are quite dated. Options: The option code sticker is still in place and intact, it shows the following options: Code: Option: 454 Automatic speed control 533 Alarm system 573 Air conditioner 593 Antilock brake system 650 Sunroof 946 Leather/leatherette seats Wheels and Tires: The OEM Porsche rims are in good condition except for one of the front rims, which will need to be replaced. The left front rim (pictured) had a cross-threaded lug nut and was damaged when repaired. The tires appear to have sufficient tread, but there is some dry rotting. Electrical: The car has a very nice sounding aftermarket Panasonic stereo which is in good working condition. The power sunroof, locks and hatch release are all in good shape as well. Items requiring attention are the passenger power window, AC vent and driver’s exterior door handle. Cosmetic: The slate grey metallic exterior of this car has decent paint, which really looks nice at any distance. The body does, however, have several blemishes including multiple dents and scratches. Please see the photos for details. The Maroon interior is in decent condition, showing some wear on the carpets and seats. The dash is in fair condition, exhibiting the typical cracks associated with these cars. Terms: The title for this car is clean, clear and in hand. The car is available for inspection in Pittsburgh, PA (15108) by appointment.
