Vehicle Detail
Offered is this sleek, stunning and very rare Goldwood Yellow 1964 Chevrolet Impala Convertible. I am selling this car for a good friend of mine who has owned it for 26 years. This show-worthy #2 condition Impala is an all-original numbers-matching 327 4-barrel V8 with Powerglide automatic and has won numerous awards at local car shows over the years. Featuring an impressive array of factory options including padded dash, power steering, power brakes, Comfort tilt steering wheel, parking brake warning light, day-nite rearview mirror, passenger side mirror, Chevrolet vanity mirror, two-speed electric wipers, glass window washer bottle, rear seat speaker, wire-wheel spinner hubcaps and Chevrolet swing-out tissue dispenser. All electrical accessories are in perfect working order. Also included is a factory Chevrolet 8-track underdash tape player which is not original to the car, probably dating from 1968-70. The '64 Impala is an extremely desirable collector car today; the convertible model being much sought-after. This example is in the scarcely-seen Goldwood Yellow factory color. An identical car can be spotted carrying secret service personnel in footage of the Kennedy Motorcade in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963. In the early '60s the Impala was touted as having a Jet-Smooth Ride, and this one does not disappoint! The car runs and drives as it did from day-one. Tight, precise steering and nimble handling, teamed with a smooth, strong-running 327 V8 make this convertible a pure pleasure to drive, either out on the freeway or just around town. This Impala rides on aggressive, vintage-looking radial tires with correct 1" sidewalls. The tires are in great shape with lots of deep tread. As can clearly be seen in the detail photos, the body is very solid, with minimal flaws considering its age. The owner put a considerable amount of work into the car over the years, and it shows. There are a few spots of bubbling which are shown in close-up. The only real flaw is a silver-dollar size rust hole on the underside of the passenger door (see close-up). This hole is difficult to see unless you are looking for it. The frame of the car is very solid and free of damage. The trunk has a rivited patch on the underside which does not show. The trunk is immaculate as seen in photos. The underside is very clean, having been stored in winter for the last 26 years. The engine was rebuilt at one point, and there are approx. 30K miles on the rebuild (there are only 94K on the body). The engine is original save for an Edelbrock intake manifold and a Holley 600 carb. The original intake and carb were retained and are included. The transmission shifts like new. The entire front end/steering mechanism is new. The car also features newer factory-correct dual exhaust. The convertible top was replaced and is like new. It also works perfectly. The top boot is non-original, however the original boot is included as well. The '64 Impalas were well-known for their Jet-Lounge Interiors. The wide, soft, supple vinyl bench seat is supremely comfortable and has the added sporty touch of chrome side trim. The back seat has ample legroom for those weekend cruises! Please e-mail any questions. The car is located in metro Detroit and interested parties are invited to thoroughly inspect it. We have placed a modestly realistic reserve price on this gorgeous classic automobile.
