Vehicle Detail

2001 E38 740iL Orient Blue exterior/gray interior with close to 112,000 miles for sale. Please see a complete set of pictures of the car at the following link: https://www.flickr.com/gp/142571718@N07/6Ea7FE I have owned this E38 as a weekend car for the better part of a decade. It’s an enjoyable car to drive and many people who have driven it have said that the driving experience is better than many newer cars. The paint is one of the nicer BMW ones that changes color depending on the viewing angle/sun and looks especially nice at twilight when it will show an entire gradient of light blue to dark violet. The tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 all around with lots of tread left. These are some of the better tires out there and perform really well. I would love to keep it after all the maintenance that has been done, but due to some personal reasons, I have decided to sell. The car is accident free, has a clean Carfax, and is well-maintained. Work that has been done to the car is listed below. Only OEM brand parts were used except if noted otherwise. Everything listed has been replaced within the last 8k miles as I have not put on more than 10k miles during my ownership due to this being a weekend car and only really being driven during the warmer months. Front and rear suspension rebuild. Cooling system overhaul (all front hoses, rear heater hoses, expansion tank, radiator, water pump, thermostat, aux pump, and transmission cooler regulator). Power Steering overhaul (including the servotronic which went bad). Engine Mounts. Transmission fluid and filter change (Genuine Filtran filter and original ZF fluid). Transmission Mounts. Oil pan gasket. Spark Plugs. Fuel Filter. Front and Rear Brake Pads (Low dusting ceramics). Brake fluid was also flushed. Front rotors replaced with Brembo OEM spec. Blower motor and blower motor resistor. Replaced at least 2 each of window regulators and door lock actuators that I can remember. Sunroof drains preventatively replaced when headliner was taken out to be reupholstered. Windshield Cowl replaced after the rubber parts started deteriorating. MK4 Navigation upgrade. Various sensors that went bad through the years (external temp sensor, O2 sensors, ABS sensors). Normal filter changes when needed (air, cabin, etc). There are probably things that I am missing but a lot of the common issues and wear items have already been addressed. Mods to the car are tasteful: Weathertech gray mats. These are the ones made specifically for this car, not the generic ones, and are much easier to clean than the original mats. Interior headliner and pillars were redone in black leather after the original material started to sag. 3M Di-Noc Carbon Fiber wrap on the interior trims. Two tone door panels with black. Huper Optik Ceramic Tint (not dark enough to warrant tickets but a good percent for some privacy). Hella E55 Bi-Xenon Projectors. Umnitza Angel Eyes. Clear front turning signals. Black front grilles. Trunk Lip Spoiler. Pros: Rear quarter shades already broke and were repaired. Cupholders work. Glove box handle works. Puckering sides of the dash were already fixed. Cons: ODB cover is loose but decided to leave it since they break it during every inspection. Usual front end rocks chips found on cars. Key mark on fenders. (See Picture) Nickel size ding on the fender close to the turning signal, no paint damage. Something must have flew and hit it on the highway. Unfortunately I cannot get a good picture of it as the paint reflects too much and the ding doesn’t show. Scrape on the passenger side skirt all the way at the botton, close to the front wheel. You have to bend down so it is at eye level to really see it. (See picture). Scratch on side of rear bumper. It is on the part of the bumper that slopes inwards below the trim. It can probably be buffed out but it’s on the lower bumper part and not too visible. (See picture) Front bumper has a straight crack on the portion right under the left grille that is parallel to the road. Someone backed into the bumper when parking and it seems this is a weak tension spot on these bumpers. The crack is isolated to this section and hasn’t gotten bigger over the years since it happened. (See picture). The paint on any original used replacements I’ve found have been in worse condition that the original on this car and the aftermarket ones generally don’t fit as well as the originals, so I just lived with it. The major things have been described here but it an older car and I cannot cover every little thing. This is why I encourage anyone to come see the car for themselves. The car is de-badged but the original 740iL badge will be included. The original mat hold downs will also be included although I never had to use them with the Weathertech mats. Anyone is welcome to come see the car and all reasonable offers will be considered, the worst I can say is no. I have described the condition of the car as best as I can. Buyer is responsible for shipping but I can certainly help coordinate if needed.
