Vehicle Detail

1963 Sunbeam Series 3 GT Last of the Big Fins Restored in 2009 Later Model Series 5 Running Gear Recent Service Work Excellent Condition A good friend of ours bought this car a few years ago. Even though it was quite a nice car, he immediately set about addressing the “little things”. As we all know, the devil is in the details, and he spent a lot of time sorting them out. Of course, about the time he was happy with the car he bought some real estate in Hawaii and needs to devote his time and resources to that. We love selling his cars because they are always so nice, in fact years ago; his P1800 brought unheard of money at the time, when we sold it. Driving this little gem is a true trip down memory lane, people smile, and wave, you get compliments at almost every traffic light. The car drives very well, starts great, hot or cold and sounds great. All of the gauges work, including the clock. The interior is in fantastic condition, and other than the stereo is highly original. The transmission shifts very smoothly, and makes no untoward noises. The brakes work as they should, although I will say that the set-up in these cars is a bit touchy and takes some getting used to. If you are in the market for one of these, look no further. This one has been sorted out and offers the rare good looks of the earlier cars with the better 1725cc motor and trans of the later cars. It needs nothing; it’s ready for your summer adventure! I really feel that these cars are a great value and also one that you rarely see. Interesting Tidbits: *The big wings of the early cars are attributed to one of the Sunbeam designers Ken Howes. He worked for Ford on the early Thunderbirds prior to joining Rootes *Series 3 was only produced for 11 months in 63 & 64 with only 5863 built. Of those around a 1000 were the GT model making it the rarest of all the Alpines. *That year they upgraded the front disc brakes and suspension. *Moved gas tanks into both rear wings increasing range and making much more room in the boot. *Deleted the soft top and replacing it with a small rear jump seat they referred to as 2+2 seating (2 little kids might barely fit in the back) *Added the burrell wood dash and steering wheel + a full carpet kit *First year the quarter lights were fitted to the door windows Feel free to call or email with any questions. We are happy to assist with shipping, nationally and internationally. Josh 503-475-8078 Matt 503-819-9007
