Vehicle Detail
1967 Camaro - California Survivor Car Matching #s Norwood build One family owned 92K original miles Here up for bids on eBay is this very original '67 Camaro. This car was bought new in Sacramento California and stayed with its first owner until 1980, when it was passed on to his nephew here in Oregon. The nephew used the car sparingly over the next 36 years, keeping it maintained as needed, but just not using it that much. The result is a car that has stayed true to its roots, never modified, and pretty much exactly the way it rolled off the Norwood assembly line 50 years ago. Click to enlarge any of the photos below, or click here to view a slideshow of all the enlarged images. The car has had one repaint in its original color of Marina Blue. The paint is now about 30 years old and could actually be mistaken for original. The finish is in good shape with no checking or hazing, and the prep and application were done pretty well, the car is very presentable. That said, you'll find a fair amount of little chips and scrapes scattered about, undoubtedly from its years spent in a tight garage. In my view this all adds to the "survivor car" vibe that this Camaro has. Not perfect, but not intended to be. This is a car that tells a story, and part of that story is about how you really don't find original Camaros like this anymore. The body on this Camaro is remarkably straight with no dents or dings. But above all, this is a extremely solid car, I've found ZERO rust issues anywhere, top or bottom. Both bumpers front and rear are original and unrestored. The chrome still looks great after 50 years. Clean and straight grill. Panel fit is very good throughout the car. All of the car's glass is original except for the windshield, it's a quality replacement in good shape with no damage. All lights and signals are working, every last bulb. All of the stainless window surrounds are in excellent original condition. Rear window shows NO trace of rust issues at the corners. Parcel shelf below is in good shape, but the rear seat tops do show some minor sun damage, click the photo to enlarge it. All of the car's weatherstripping and seals are original. Trunk carries a matching spare and factory jacking equipment. This car was optioned with the Deluxe Interior and rare Strato-Bench seat with armrest. When you open the door it's like stepping back in time, everything here is just very well preserved. It appears that the carpet has been replaced, otherwise everything else is original. All gauges and controls are functioning correctly, along with every last switch and every last bulb. Heater and fan work correctly, as well as the lights, wipers, horn - even the radio is crystal clear. This is a car has never been messed with. Windows all wind smoothly, locks all work. This car was optioned with the fold-down rear seat (which I should have taken a picture of......) Perfect VIN tag, clean underdash areas, perfect original headliner. The 327 starts right up and runs strong with no smoke and no issues. Even your wife will like the way this car drives, it has a straightforward simplicity to it that's unique to cars that are bone stock originals. The transmission shifts perfectly, the rear end is quiet, and the car was optioned with rare power brakes along with power steering. It all adds up to a great driving experience. The cowl tag info matches just how this car is configured. The MF block stamp is correct for a California market car. Never detailed or cleaned, the engine bay shows some routine replacement parts (master cylinder, tune up items, hoses), but otherwise it's a trip back to '67. Hard to find a Camaro that's as untouched as this one. The undercarriage reveals original floor pans and sills in super condition with no rust. Click to enlarge the photos, they tell the story of this 50 year old survivor. Click here for a slideshow of all of the enlarged images.
