But add the Napco 4x4 conversion and cool is at a new level. This Suburban was a U.S. Forest service vehicle. It was put into service in 1956 in Mc Call Idaho. Used by the manager of operations until 1974. He purchased the vehicle for his own use in 1974. This is the last year the napco conversion was not done by GMC. The engine is a small block chevy. We did not check the numbers so we dont know the vintage. The motor is not currently running however it does turn over and try to start. It was said to have ran two years ago. The body is amazingly dry including the wood floor. What makes this GMC even more rare is the automatic transmission! This is truely a barn find ready for a new owner to bring it back to its original beauty or a diesel conversion? This 1955 GMC Suburban is cool in its own rite! But add the Napco 4x4 conversion and cool is at a new level.

This Suburban was a U.S. Forest service vehicle. It was put into service in 1956 in Mc Call Idaho. Used by the manager of operations until 1974. He purchased the vehicle for his own use in 1974.

This is the last year the napco conversion was not done by GMC.

The engine is a small block chevy. We did not check the numbers so we dont know the vintage. The motor is not currently running however it does turn over and try to start. It was said to have ran two years ago.

The body is amazingly dry including the wood floor. What makes this GMC even more rare is the automatic transmission!

This is truely a barn find ready for a new owner to bring it back to its original beauty or a diesel conversion?
