Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1972 AMC Hornet Sportabout, which is the Gucci Edition. We bought this car about 2 years ago from the original owners’ estate in Glendale, California, because my wife thought it would be fun to drive the equivalent of a Gucci purse. The car had been sitting in the original owner’s garage for about 25 years unused, so we cleaned the fuel system, put all new brakes on it, put new front and rear main seals in the engine, rebuilt the transmission, put in a new radiator and carburetor, tuned up the engine electrical system, put all new tires on it, and my wife used it as a daily driver. It has not given us any trouble, does not use a drop of oil, and gets about 22 MPG on regular gas. Being a California car, there is not a bit of rust anywhere on the car, top or bottom. It has 85,000 original miles on it. I would not be afraid to drive from here in Georgia all the way to California right now. The interior is in very good condition, as you can see in the pictures. All the Gucci insignias are present on the car. The Gucci headliner is in perfect condition with no stains, rips, or any other problems, as seen in the pictures. The space-saving spare tire has never been removed from its position in the right rear luggage area. Even the can of fluid to fill it up is still there. The car also comes with the original owner's manual, which is like new. We are selling the car because the novelty of driving a Gucci purse has worn off for my wife and for the past 3 or 4 months, she has only been driving it about once a week. Now it’s someone else’s turn to drive a Gucci purse. I expect payment within 5 days of the end of the auction. The car can be picked up after your check has cleared my bank. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I can give the name of a good, reliable shipper if you wish. Buyer will be given a Bill of Sale and the Georgia Title in my name. If you have any questions, you can use the “Ask Seller A Question” box, or call me at (912) 222-5771 between 9 AM and 9 PM, Eastern time.
