At the upper right, taken in 1968, is the owner Gary, at the tender age of 15, on top of the world in his first car: an XK140 DHC bought for $100.  Because he was too young to drive it he posed for a lot of pictures in his parent's driveway!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             ,                                                                                                                                           248-594-5906                                                                     Gary Seraphinoff                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Overview                                                                                         A LITTLE ABOUT THE SEVEN GABLES MOTOR GARAGE LTD Although operated on a small scale by the owner Gary Seraphinoff, The Seven Gables Motor Garage Ltd located in the Detroit suburb of Bloomfield Hills has a very large amount of vintage British motoring enthusiasm. Passionate for over a half century, Gary carries a fair amount of experience in dealing with these motor-cars. Being a hobby as much as it is a small business, we sell vintage vehicles and the spares for these classics.  In addition to having a small collection of British motor-cars with the focus being Jaguar XK120's as well as his wife Kathy's, someday to be on the road again, MG-TD. Located at "Seven Gables", the family home, Gary has sold vintage spares around the globe and offers unsurpassed care doing it. COSMETIC CONDITION This XK has sat for many years indoors.  A little trip back in time to give an exact comparison: In 1968, during high school, I worked part time at an imported car garage.  Alongside the building was an XK150  in the EXACT condition that this one is in.  It had a very nice, solid chassis, exterior rust in exactly the same places as this and in the same degree, and it had its original interior in the same, well worn condition.  My point is that this car probably was on the road for the same amount of time and was parked where any further deterioration was arrested by inside storage.  Sadly, the XK150 along the shop eventually went to the crusher after a few years.  Back again in the present, I briefly played with the idea of putting the drivetrain back in this FHC and making it into a ratty, running driver!  However, I have way too many of these already and I will leave this project to you.  But its tempting... I am involved with a renown metal shaping company (Fournier Metalshaping) and I would LOVE to start patching this car at the shop.  Also, as a comparison, I once dug an XK120 FHC out of the dirt after sitting 45 years outside.  That car was beyond the beyond and the entire car just crumbled away to the touch (it DID however go to Lebanon to be restored!)  This car is a FAR better example. 1) The body is rusted in places of course but at least you can start with an unmolested example that even has its original sills.  2) All of the glass is original and present.  3) Remarkably, it has its original leather seats and trim. Even a bit of the original carpets.   4) The fragile alloy bonnet is in great condition.  Thats a real bonus.  5) The chrome parts look like they can be restored and except for the Jaguar badge on the bonnet and one latch on a rear vent window it looks like its all there. 6)  The radial tires and wheels are in GREAT condition but they are 15" instead of the 16" that came from the factory.   MECHANICAL CONDITION As mentioned the the engine and gearbox were taken out of this XK150 by a previous owner for a rebuild. I cannot verify that but I hope its true.  The car steers fine and almost everything is with the car.  Its missing the radiator and the clutch assembly for some reason the carburetors are incorrect (notice the manual choke on them) They are 1-3/4" S.U.'s but they lack the "auxiliary enrichment" starting carb between them.  I am sure some other small parts are missing.  I will fall short of saying that its 100% matching numbers because it appears that the cylinder head has been re-stamped. I say that because the stamps used do not appear to be the style used at the factory. I could be wrong here, but I feel this is a possibility.  The engine block is correctly stamped, the chassis stamping shows perfectly well like the day it was stamped and the body tag is correct. THE PRESENT LOCATION OF THIS XK Being located in Detroit, Michigan USA, we are a stones throw across the Detroit River from our Canadian sister city Windsor, Ontario.  My colleague is Canadian and he has this motor-car in his driveway a half hour drive from here.  He has a clear Canadian title for it and if he really had to, with the proper paperwork, he could bring it to the United States.  He is very conversant with bringing vehicles here to the United States but for now we have decided to keep the XK there since it may very well stay in Canada or even go to another country.  We are familiar with shipping cars across the continent as well as shipping to other countries by sea. To Sum Up This XK150 has some excellent virtues.  I am recommending this XK150 as a low cost "starter" XK for someone that needs a nice drivetrain and solid chassis to start with and is willing to do the body repair himself.  Body repair panels are available for this car at reasonable prices but the small areas can be patched for the price of labor and sheet metal.  Money and time will be invested but you will have a wonderful XK at a reasonable price.  I think you can probably tell from reading this that I am a very ardent early Jaguar enthusiast.  I know a lot about these motor-cars and I sincerely believe that this is a great one to start with on a modest budget.  If I did not have a long row of these already I would buy it myself... If you have wanted an example of the beautiful XK150 FHC with all its interior room, tremendous power, four wheel disc brakes, AND you are on a budget I think you should really consider this XK!  Good luck and thanks for looking.                                          The Seven Gables Motor Garage Ltd                                               (telephone)  248.594.5906                                               (email)  Gary@TheSevenGablesMotorGarage.com                                                                                                                                                                                 Terms of Sale                                                                                         The Deposit and the Final Payment Please be ready to place a $1,500 Paypal deposit within twenty-four 24 hours of auction's close.
