Vehicle Detail
1982 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade Known history from new Solid throughout Original paint Up for bids is this very original CJ7. Bought new by a service member through AMC's Military Sales Corporation, the car has stayed in WA State through 4 owners. If you follow CJ's on eBay, you know that they tend to be either fully restored show pieces or rusty hulks that need everything. This one falls nicely in between, an honest driver that shows some miles but is rock solid with no rust issues. Click to enlarge any of the images, OR click here to view a gallery of all of the enlarged images. Here's the original purchase order from when the Jeep was ordered new in '82. The original owner used it as a daily driver for many years before selling it to a fellow service member friend. After some years he passed it on to his nephew, who later sold it to an enthusiast who had been searching for an original CJ for some time. The odometer reading of 280K equals about 8500 miles a year. This Jeep has been used regularly, serviced as needed, and never let to sit. I have a clean CarFax and AutoCheck report, email me for a copy of either. All of the glass is original except for the windshield. It's crystal clear except for one rock chip way up high, see 3rd photo below. The line that you see near the center is a reflection of the cb antenna. This Jeep wears all original paint and decals. With original paint, what you see is what you get and you'll like what you see here. A straight and solid body, undercarriage included. The only dent on this rig is a small tweak near the gas filler cap, pictured in the 3rd photo below. The front end has picked up numerous rock chips over the years, I guess that's the trade off for having original paint. Both bumpers are straight, they have attachments for a canoe rack which is included. The front bumper also has attachments for an RV tow bar. The rear bumper has a ball hitch and wiring for towing. Behind the rear hatch is a factory option tool box. All 4 Kelly Safari TSR tires are in great shape. The Jeep's floor had been rhino-lined years back, it's starting to wear in some spots and could stand to be recoated. Cab corners and floors show no rust problems. All instruments and gauges work except for the oil pressure. A new sender has been installed so the problem must be the gauge itself. Other inoperative items include the radio and horn. Lights, signals, heater, fan and wipers all work correctly. CB works. Driver's side seat belt is frayed and should be replaced at some point for safety. Right side turn signal auto-cancels but left side does not. Back seat is in good original condition. 4th photo shows the canoe rack and Bestop bikini top. Super solid and dry undercarriage with no rust issues and no signs of damage. The durable Iron Duke 2.5L starts right up and runs great. This Jeep motors down the road with a nice sure-footed feeling, it has a good firm suspension and good brakes. 4WD works great. Recent attention has been paid to the cooling system and clutch, it stays cool and shifts perfectly. A Weber carb and K&N air filter have been fitted. All in all a nice solid survivor that's ready to go anywhere. Click here for a gallery of all of the enlarged images.
