Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a rare 1960 Porsche 356 Roadster. The previous owner, who is now in his 80s, restored Porsches professionally for over 50 years. He bought this car in 1973 to restore for himself. In the late ‘70s, he completely dismantled it, had it chemically stripped, and began the restoration process by cutting out the floors and doing some minor bodywork in between restoring Porsches for other people. He never really got very far in the restoration of this one for himself before age crept up on him and he was no longer able to work on it. The body is upside down on a rotisserie that the previous owner made for the car in the ‘70s, so I turned the camera upside down to take the pictures today, which is why the pictures may look kind of strange. I tried to show every aspect of the body so that you can see everything that’s been done and what still needs to be done. The car comes with NOS floors the previous owner bought over 35 years ago. This is a matching numbers car with both the engine and transmission numbers matching the COA. It is one of the most desirable colors – ruby red with light gray interior. I have done a complete inventory of all the parts that came with this car and the only things missing are both door windows, the spare tire, and the crescent-shaped hood that goes over the top of the 3 gauges on the dash. This item and the glass for the doors are all available from Stoddard. All the emblems, chrome dash trim, other interior and exterior trim, knobs, gauges, door handles, bumpers, engine parts with correct carbs and air cleaners, etc, are all there. Even the manufacturer’s emblem that goes in front of the passenger’s door is there. All the parts that go with the car are packed on 4 pallets in the bins you see in the pictures. The rotisserie that the car is on now does NOT go with the car. I will set the body on a large pallet and I will be able to load the body and the 4 pallets of parts for the car on your flatbed trailer with my forklift. I have a transporter I’ve been using for several years who has a single car open and a single car enclosed trailer who would probably be willing to transport this car with all the parts to you anywhere in the USA. It would be a little more expensive to ship than if the car was not apart, of course. I expect payment within 5 days of the end of the auction. The car can be picked up after your check has cleared my bank. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I can give the name of a good, reliable shipper if you wish. Buyer will be given a Bill of Sale and the North Carolina Title I received when I bought the car.
