2001 Sportsmobile Quigley 4x4 Class B Van/Camper Conversion on 1999 FORD Super Duty Diesel Chassis Over $150,000 Invested For Sale @ $70,000 Please watch the video on this amazing van before calling with any questions; https://youtu.be/WDflztU8DO8 Check out this insane 4X4 van being sold to fund the restoration of the New England Motorcycle Museum here in Vernon, CT. This thing can tow just about anything, with a V-8 444 C.I. International Navistar T444-E A.K.A. - Ford Powerstroke 7.3 Liter Intercooled Turbo-diesel with a 4.10 gear set and a full Banks Powerpack for OVER 450 HORSE POWER! It pulls trailers down the highway and up hills like they are not even there. Ken Kaplan, the original owner of this truck ordered it brand new in 1999 from Ford and took delivery when it was completed in 2001, he had it shipped from Ford’s Dearborn Michigan plant to Pennsylvania where Quigley inc. did the 4X4 conversion before it was shipped to California to Sportsmobile, where it was converted to a class B van-camper. Using Sportsmobiles most popular floor plan and every accessory they offered at the time was added. At the time of the build, Ken had the idea of trying to hit the land world speed record for class B motorhomes. Thus, no expense was spared in the making of this vehicle. They used the best suspension, wheels, tires, you name it! From Sportsmobile in California, the van was then sent to a 4X4 Engineering shop where the body was lifted 3 inches to make room for a Banks Intercooler under the hood! A panhard bar extension was made to keep the steering tight and custom shock mounts welded on front and rear for King racing shocks with remote reservoirs front and rear (with E-450 Coil Over springs front, heavy duty leaf springs in back with firestone airbags front and rear), 35” All terrain tires on 5 Eagle Alloy Wheels got the running stock up to par with the rest of the vehicle, a Correct-trac rear axle spacer kit was added to line the rear wheels up with the front for the high speed assault that was planned for the Bonneville Salt Flats, but never made it due to missing the window of opportunity for the run! With the King Shocks, body and suspension lift, wheels and tires, and alignment dialed in perfectly she was ready to let that 7.3 litre turbo-diesel breathe so she was then shipped off to Gale Banks Engineering in California for the “Full Monty ; A full Banks Powerpack! Including a “one-off, only one made, ever for a van Banks intercooler with custom plumbing", A Banks turbo, and Dynosource chip with two dyno tuned settings one for tow and one for speed was installed. On the intake side the airbox was modified by Banks to flow better and a K&N Filter keeps the intake air clean, on the exhaust side a Banks down pipe was mated to a full 4” custom mandrel bent exhaust and a Banks Muffler dumping out into a massive 5” Stainless Steel tailpipe painted black to match the awesome van! A second and Auxilliary oil cooler for the transmission and a shift kit was added to keep the tranny cool under the load of over 450 HP! The engine now makes beautiful sounds and has became the only intercooled 7.3L Powerstroke turbo diesel VAN in the world. A bully-dog propane injection system was added to increase fuel mileage and run cooler with more HP and to take advantage of the Sportsmobile 25 gallon on board propane system! Gale Banks Engineering supplied the full Banks Diesel Powerpack; Banks Turbocharger, Banks intercooler, a tow/cruise flip-chip, & the full exhaust system. This includes the exhaust temperature gauge and turbo boost gauges mounted in a custom A-pillar mount and the Banks Tachometer custom mounted in the carbon fibre dash, to keep it cool with an eye on things. After all this work was done to the vehicle, it was shipped to Colorado international airport where Ken picked it up and brought it MOAB Utah for the 4-wheel-drive van show where it won best in show out of 99 custom vans at Sportsmobile’s “Rally in the Valley”!!! This van features; -the BullyDog propane injection, that injects small amounts of propane while the van is running to get better fuel mileage. -Transfer-Flow fuel system with Auxilliary 27 gallon fuel tank for 57 gallons total and a 900+ mile cruising range, from CT to Florida on one tank of gas! -Off the charts stereo system with a Kenwood 6 Channel 500 watt amp, 6 custom mounted JBL Speakers, and a sub-woofer all mated to an easy to use OEM Ford head unit with CD Player. - an $800 Ford RPM Controller -Sportsmobile Canvas pop-top -Day/night shades -Sportsmobile’s RB50 floor plan that includes -4 cubic ft fridge/freezer -Brand new microwave (Newly installed) -Brand new 2015 Tedford porta-poti -Water pump & sink -Upgraded fan -LED & 12 volt lighting & accent lighting -Cable TV outlets -Trash compartment -6 Gallon water heater -Closet space -Two 7ft long beds with pop-top set up (Comfortably sleep 5 adults (One on floor) - Much more, too much to list! How could you not feel like Clint Eastwood driving into town in this massive 450 horsepower van, with a “kickin’” stereo system and the turbo whistling? The 6.0 and V10 gas motors both pale in comparison to this genuine international T-444E turbo diesel beast. This whole truck has just been cosmetically and mechanically refurbished less than 100 miles on the restoration and it has only 90,000 miles on it, which is practically just broken in! This is a commercial heavy duty truck engine and chassis, designed for over 500,000 miles. The underside of this vehicle is just as clean as the top, which is something very rare for a Sportsmobile. The dashboard and interior of this vehicle is absolutely immaculate -10,000 LBS custom hitch and bumper mounted hitch with MONSTER tow hook On the Full Ruenel Rear bumper with spare tire carrier, storage platform and AX RaX. Ken and his team just did a full cosmetic restoration that has less than 100 miles on it.
