Vehicle Detail
This BMW has always been registered [in Connecticut and Iowa] as a 1965 R-69S. Frame number 627569 on clear Iowa title, Engine number 657732. I bought the R-69S in around 1995 in Ct. it was a barely running bike. It sat in my heated basement for many years because I owned many Italian bikes, Guzzi, Laverda and Ducati. Then I had a heart attack so it sat until around 2006. I had a very good job at the time [more money than brains] and took the bike to Avedis Tenkarian in Rhode Island who totally restored the engine. This cost a huge amount of money. Everything is new pistons, crank, rings, valves, slinger, balancer etc. I rode it a bit but we had a personal tragedy in our family and we left the East Coast for a mellower life in a little town in S.E. Iowa. I retired and started selling off my bikes to live on. I moved here with 22. This BMW is the last bike I own. Due to health issues my riding days are over. The bike has only been driven 400 miles since the rebuild. This engine is fantastic, it really pulls it is a fast bike. Tenkarian is a pro, he really knows his stuff. Some little bit of tweaking was done to the transmission. In bidding remember you basically have a new engine. Ask anyone what Tenkarian charges for his work, he is one of the best. As you can see this a honest wear bike with great patina. What does it need? If you are going to putt around town just cleaning and adjustment of the right side carb. [the carbs are the correct original ones] For any serious riding it needs tires and brake work. Mileage on this bike is unknown. I've never been able to open the tool box so I do not know what is in there. The frame has lugs for a side car. Please ask questions up front, what you see is what you see is what you get. Do not bid if you don't intend to follow through with the deal. I have sold many expensive motorcycles and musical instruments on ebay. I am a honest and direct person. Check my feedback. NOTE: A very few spares, BMW chrome back luggage rack [in good shape], soft bags, and a tank bag. These are all good quality but used. The soft bags have good rain covers. These are from one of my Guzzi's. One final thought, I've been involved in selling, motorcycles, antique musical instruments and autos all my life. So many people want to drive such a hard bargain and are so good at it that they do not get what they seek. Remember the idea is to actually get what you want and enjoy it. This is a BMW you can ride for the rest of you life as you upgrade the cosmetics. So much fun in this one..................
