Selling my 1985 Mercedes 380sl Roadster. has blue convertible top in good shape and has original hardtop which needs a buff but is rust free and with all brightwork. This car is a dependable daily driver. it has the bad body panel rust that is common with these and will make someone a nice summer driver for its remaining years but will never be a show car as she sits. It has had recent tune up and battery, it starts runs and drives well. exhaust pipe is broken by muffler so it is loud. trans shifts fine. engine was idling high as is common on these cars so, I took out and soaked the slider valve and fixed a small vac leak and it is idling at 750rpm now. seats are cracked as you see and dash is cracked. I have been driving it in Chicago traffic and it has not overheated and both fans seem to work fine. heater works but ac does not. the main rust is what you see on the body in the typical places except the front fenders around headlights is solid. trunk pan is solid and most of passenger pans seem solid. frame is solid, it appears the right front fender was replaced as it is not rusty and the fit isn't perfect. This car has its original aluminum hood. This car sat inside unmoved for 10 years and then outside for 2 years with the hardtop on it. I got it from the 2nd owner from an estate, brought it home and brought it back to life.. fuel system has been flushed and sea foamed. With a little effort this will make a nice summer driver until the rust takes it toll and it becomes and organ donor. with the prices for used parts on these things you should be able to part it out for more than you paid for it. Engine does not smoke and valve train is quiet. it appears to have been a well maintained car that was stored a long time.
