Vehicle Detail

1985 Buick Electra Estate Wagon 78,600 actual miles All original paint and interior Last of the classic RWD wagons Up for bids is this very well preserved Buick Electra.  If you were a teenager in the 1980's like me, you'll remember all of your friends learning how to drive in vehicles like these.  Now that SUV's have taken over it's become a rarity to see these full-size station wagons on the road.  Rarer still to find one in this kind of condition.  This Buick has 79K actual miles and is bone stock and original, just a terrfic survivor.  It rides down the road like new and is ready for that road trip that's been on your bucket list.  Click to enlarge any of the photos below, a link to a gallery of all the enlarged images is available to view at the bottom of the page. Original paint eliminates a lot of guesswork about a car's past, what you see is what you get and you'll like what you see here.  The body is arrow straight with no dents or damage, and the paint finish is pretty spectacular for being almost 30 years old.  Expect to find a few little chips here and there but otherwise prepare to be impressed.  Zero rust and no history of rust or repair, ditto for the undercarriage. The chrome bumpers (remember those?) are both in great shape with no pitting, flaking, or fading.  The chrome accents on this car all looks great.  All of the car's anodized trim is still looking fantastic as well. Very well preserved grill, emblems, lights and signals.  All of the wood grain siding is original and looking great.  This wagon was heavily optioned, the SPI sticker in the back lists them.  Basically this Buick is loaded with everything but the 3rd seat.  Guess you can't have it all.  It features A/C, power windows and locks, dual 6-way power seats, cornering lights, auto headlight off, fender mounted light indicators, sport wheels, Delco premium cassette, cruise, electronic touch climate control and more. All of the glass is in excellent condition with no scratches, chips or hard water spotting - it's all crystal clear.  Roof rack looks like new. The interior shows very little wear, still looking great.  Seats have no tears or splits, this wagon will carry 6 passengers comfortably. Every single accessory works correctly with the exception of the cruise control.  The accel function works but it will not hold the set speed.  Lights, signals, wipers, power seats - all working correctly.  The horn only works on the left side of the pad.  It's the classic GM full-size sound from the 80's, more akin to a locomotive than a car.  The car has the optional "touch-control" climate system, it works just as it's designed to, including the Auto feature.  Can't vouch for the A/C this time of year but the compressor does kick on when A/C is selected on the screen.  The Delco sound systems looks vintage now but it actually has good sound through dual speakers front and rear.  Power antenna works in tandem with the radio.  Dash pad is perfect with no splits or cracks. All door panels still look super.  Power windows all work smoothly, power door locks work correctly. Roomy back seat, sill plates and weatherstripping are all good.  Headliner is tight front to back with no sags. Rear compartment doesn't look like it's been used much, there's more storage down beneath in the well. The Buick wagons were assembled with the Olds 307 5.0L motor, a very well regarded engine.  This wagon starts instantly and runs out perfectly.  The exhaust heat riser choke makes a little noise when the car is cold but disappears once warmed up.  Otherwise, nothing to report - this car runs and drives beautifully, it rolls down the road with a super smooth ride, brakes well, shifts perfectly and has plenty of power.  For having a 220" wheelbase it's actually pretty easy to maneuver around town but the best part is how it handles on the highway.  Sit back, relax, and fingertip steer this land yacht to the horizon.
