Vehicle Detail
This is a driver's car. Although anyone can drive it, a driver will fully appreciate it. It is a 6-speed with a supercharger, factory chrono package, and rare "Black Eye Purple" color that looks blue in some lighting conditions. This was listed earlier and I ended the auction early because on November 1, 2014, the left rear quarter panel was dented. The dent did NOT break the paint and can most likely be popped out by Dent Wizard or similar. The reserve price has been significantly lowered to take this into account. I felt that this was the best and most transparent way to handle the change. NOTHING ELSE was effected--it still handles extremely well! The first (Mt Rainier) photo shows the winter (S-Lite) wheels; the other photos show the summer (R90) wheels. Both sets of wheels and tires are included in this offer. From the day I purchased it, used, in 2007, my intention was to drive it until one of us died. Unfortunately, things changed such that I will soon move offshore to where I will have no need of a vehicle with four wheels except for the occasional taxi ride. At first I thought to store it until I return. Now there are no plans to return, so I must part with it. When I live overseas, my MINI is what I will miss most. It will help to know that it went to a good home and is driven by someone who appreciates it as much as I always will. The MINI Cooper S Convertible was factory-designed to scoot through curves and give its occupants a bit of adrenaline and a LOT of grins! Mini actually advertised it as the next generation of go kart; and it is!!! In fact, long ago I removed the "Cooper" in Cooper S on the boot. This MINI is a GoKart S :) It's also the only vehicle I've ever named. Together, we took a 15-day road trip (and got chased by a bear!--there is a link to the trip blog of myteardropbuild com) mostly down the Pacific coast to LA, then inland to Yosemite, and eventually home again. We took another drive down the coast to San Francisco and a gathering of MINIs... and many, many one, two, or three day adventures around the Olympic Peninsula, up to Vancouver, BC, down to Lost Wages, and on every twisty road I could find. Many people ask what kind of mileage it gets (~25 mpg) and, honestly, they're missing the point. This is a FUN vehicle, designed for someone who's willing to drop a bit more fuel into the cylinders to get a lot more grins per mile (GPM). The only reason I even know the mpg is because the factory chrono package has a computer that tells me. If you're an economy hawk, still buy it if you're the high bidder, but when you pick it up I will appreciate it if you lie and tell me you LOVE swinging through the twisties. With maybe a half dozen exceptions, this MINI slept in a garage every night for the past 7+ years--even at the airport. Please give this GoKart a good home... and it'll give you a LOT of smiles in return! If there is an improvement or modification possible to improve handling, torque, looks, or comfort, GoKart has it--and all are designed by professionals. No shade tree mechanics or jerry-rigging here. To Improve Handling, Braking, and Safety: • OMP Strut Tower Brace • OMP Front Lower Brace • Mini-Madness 22mm Rear Sway Bar • Koni FSD Shocks • H-Sport Progressive Dampening Springs • Helix Stainless Steel Brake Lines • Helix Brake Caliper Stiffening Kit • R56 Front discs and pads (larger than stock; OEM) • Rear View Mirror Delete (HUGE increase in visibility) • TSW Engine Vibration Damper • Rear Fog Light w/ dashboard control To Improve Torque (which gives acceleration): • MiniMadness Cold Air Intake (also lets you HEAR the supercharger wind up) • MiniMadness Oil Catch Can (keeps oil from accumulating in supercharger) • M7 Air Plate Diverter • M7 Aerogel EX heat shield To Improve Looks • R90 17" Cross Spoke Composite Light Alloy Wheels • M7 Stubby Antenna • Palo Uber Hood Scoop • Custom-painted Hood Stripes with fade (stock are vinyl glue-on) • 3M Clear Bra (entire hood, front grille, rear hatch, mirrors, door handle scoops) • Leatherette front seats and rear head restraints To Improve Comfort • Between-seats windscreen • Rear Seat Delete • One-touch top lower to sunroof; one more touch to full topless. Same one/two touch back to fully closed • Power Amplifier & upgraded speakers • Harmon-Kardon iPod Adapter Kit with click-wheel controller There are a few other, more subtle modifications, including everything needed to pull a trailer of <1400 lbs! • Trailer Brake Controller • Six-wire trailer plug-in (all-but-hidden in rear fascia) • Mini-Do-More Receiver Hitch • "GoKart" badge replacing "Cooper" • TSW Jack Points (metal for floor jack to raise against vs. factory plastic) • Battery Trickle Charger connection I've only pulled a very light trailer twice and for less than 150 total miles. It's set up for towing because I was building a teardrop trailer to pull with it and never finished the build. The teardrop project is also for sale. It has NEVER been tracked, though it could be as-is. As I've already said, I'm more of a twisty roads junkie. Since 2008, there has been a platform behind the front seats instead of a rear seat. It is MUCH more useful and I never needed the rear seats. The rear seat IS included and can be swapped in and out in less than two minutes. The front seats were replaced under warranty by the nearest dealer in 2008 with OEM leatherette; the rear seats remain cloth because, frankly, no one ever sits there. I took out the butt part, put in a grocery-friendly padded and upholstered platform and it looks good! The "butt part" is included in the auction. There are currently "summer" tires in-place that are good down to 40 degrees F. the winter tires are on the original S-Lite alloy wheels and are included in the price. I rotate tires every 5,000 miles and you will need new summer tires next spring. The winter tires only have a few thousand miles on them. Did I mention that it's a driver's car? If you've read this far, this is YOUR car! One drive and you'll be hooked!!! Note: This is NOT the average car that you'll price out on one of the car web sites. This is a one-of-a-kind vehicle that has been lovingly cared for and that has over $10,000 in improvements. Please contact me if you have any questions. One more thing... the "PLEASE MOVE OVER --> --> -->" sticker on the windshield really does work! =:-0
