This SUV until about two weeks ago was owned by a local state agency (housing finance authority) that recently replaced it with a new one, replaced because of an engine problem and then not repaired because of age and miles. It was used by an administrator of the finance authority since new, sometimes had employees ride in it and documents, promotional material loaded in the cargo area, not used as a personal vehicle! We purchased it directly from them along with some other items, not from a dealer or broker. The SUV has a major engine problem, it will crank right up, run and idle but has a noise in the top end of the engine, transmission is strong with no problems, brakes good, a/c is cold, heat is hot, stereo works great and the tires can be seen in the photos. This SUV was driven by one administrator since new in 2007, while traveling recently the employee noticed a noise when cranking the vehicle and it running rough, left it parked and had a maintenance employee check it out. They were told it had a timing chain/top end issue and would need serious work or a replacement motor, because of the age and mileage they simply replaced the SUV. It was no longer driven or used while making this noise, we simply cranked it to load on a trailer and to photograph/video, engine has only ran at an idle since the issue was known or heard, did accelerate one time to film the video! The engine runs rough at idle but runs find above idle, service engine light is on and will go dead every now and then or try to while idling! The SUV, besides the engine issue, is in overall great condition, a recent car fax is shown in one of the photo links, it is a one owner and will make a great vehicle for someone after the engine is repaired. You cannot come drive the unit away and just pretend like it has no problem, we were told not to rev engine up and/or drive which could cause more damage. Please understand that the engine must be repaired or replaced before you can use it on a daily basis, looks like engines are for sale on eBay for $2,250.00 - $3,500.00 and we have been told you should be able to fix it for about that same amount or a little less! If you are a mechanic or have a family member or close friend that can fix this problem and is knowledgeable of a 5.4 Liter Ford Triton Engine you may get it repaired for much less! This issue is obviously a well-known common problem with these particular engines, the housing finance committee serviced the unit right by the book and it should not have experienced this problem. The paint body are great, has a few very small scratches, dings, but not enough to even point out, have to look hard to find, the windshield has a rock peck in it, the driver’s seat shows some wear and has a tear in it, the plastic door floor opening shows some wear along with the drivers floor mat and steering wheel, the rear side of the 3rd row seat has a spot in the carpet torn and shows some wear where the sold was folded down and cargo slid over the top, it also has a few stains, very few in the carpet in several spots but looks like they will all shampoo out, the SUV has not been professionally cleaned in quite some time, we simply hand washed, vacuumed and wiped interior/tires down!
