Vehicle Detail

I don't think you'll find a better value for sale of this increasingly rare classic on Ebay. Compare this price and what you get to other cars that still need lots of work and are selling for much more. 1973 MGB-GT. Much harder to find than the roadsters, this is a highly desirable chrome bumper version. It came to Mass. from N.J. so it does not appear to have been exposed to road salt. The underside of this car is exceptionally clean. Although English production of this 2+2 continued through the 1980 model year, U.S. imports ended in 1974 with the later rubber bumper version. This one appears to be an older restoration and is a very solid car, with super clean undercarriage, solid rockers, that if replaced were done professionally in metal. The paint job is an older non-stock metallic brown color and is in overall excellent shape. There are a few scratches and a very few minor bubbles in the rear qtr. panel top seams, but the car looks good. All chrome pcs. and badges. are in place and in good to excellent condition. The interior is in excellent shape. The drivers side seat has wear on one side panel, but no holes or tears. Headliner is excellent. No leaks. Clean, solid engine that you can see has been taken care of. Excellent oil pressure. I drove the car 35 miles from where I bought it to home, and it goes great on the highway. Mechanically the car is 95%, but I have not attempted to "chase" some of the few things it needs, hence the low price. The car recently passed the stringent Massachusetts inspection process which requires all lights, exhaust, safety items to work, and has a current sticker. All items necessary for this work as they should ( lights, horn, etc.) In answer to the inevitable question of "can it be driven to" ( you fill in the blank) I would answer no, unless you have your AAA Gold Card and a chase truck. I would have it towed or transported unless you are going a short distance from zip 01860. Includes: 4 speed non-overdrive tranny, shifts smooth. Tires look new, Goodyear all seasons. Previous owner claimed recent brakes. Clutch is excellent. Weber carb conversion GTs feature an oil cooler, nice addition not standard on roadsters. The few things I have found that I would do if I were to keep it: The heater works but the blower motor is disconnected in an easy to reach place. The odometer does not work, but the speedo does. Indicated miles are about 91000, but sold as TMU. The exhaust is newer but was replaced with a muffler only, no front resonator, so it is louder than I would prefer, but nice if you want a sportscar sound. There is no radio. The car runs slightly rough at low idle, runs smooth on the road. Probably carb adjustment or related to the fuel pump below. It has an aftermarket fuel pump that works, but is loud. I would install a stock fuel pump. I would check fluid level on dampers ( shocks) or replace if necessary as it is harsh on big bumps, but rides nicely on the highway, but is solid, handles well and tracks straight. Although the previous owner claims new brakes, the pedal is soft and they should be bled again. There may be things I am forgetting, but you will not need to do much to this car and you can drive it while you chip away at little things. Sold as is, as described, so please email me with questions before bidding or buying. If you use the buy it now, I will include an excellent quality car cover made for this model and a service manual.
