The designation came from Four-Barrel Carburetor - Four Speed – Dual Exhaust performance package. It was originally introduced on the Cutlass as the F-85 package, but later was produced as a model designation. It was in line with other GM cars like the Chevelle and GTO as muscle cars. The Cutlass 442 is with equipped with luxury like options and special styling cues. This car also features power brakes, power top and power steering. This Oldsmobile has the matching correct L69 V8 with a 3 speed Turbo-Hydramatic transmission. The L69 was rated at 350 hp and 440tq from the 400CI engine. The chassis was also upgraded on the with larger sway-bars and higher rate springs and shocks. This particular 442 that we are selling is a correct matching number survivor in its original trim and color. The paint is in excellent condition for an older res-pray that was done correctly. The original interior shows little wear and tear and is very presentable. The newer convertible top works great and looks perfect. Driving down the road it tracks straight and true and stops well without pulling to either side. This 442 is from a good customer of ours that has owned it for over 10 years. It has been his pride and joy, always detailed and garaged. Shortly after his purchase, he had the original engine rebuilt and blueprinted. The brakes are in good condition and the tires are correctly sized for this Olds and in good condition. The prior owner also collected some extra engine parts including correct date code block and heads, crank, exhaust manifolds, and a distributor. These extra parts come with the car. This will make a great show car or investment classic. Plus it does not hurt being a triple black car. Inspections are welcome prior to the end of the auction.
