Vehicle Detail
1970 Ford F250 Ranger XLT Camper Special 81K original miles Original paint Working A/C Up for bids here on eBay at No Reserve is this very original Ford F250. An Idaho truck from new, it has had 2 caring owners. The truck features all original paint, 81K original miles, power steering and brakes, dual fuel tanks, factory A/C and rare front disc brakes. The truck had a camper mounted to it for many years and was used sparingly, hence the low mileage. Both owners were fanactics about maintenance and upkeep, the result is one of the best preserved F250's you're likely to find. Click to enlarge any of the photos below, a link to a slideshow of all the enlarged images is available to view at the bottom of the page. Finished in Boxwood Green over Wimbleton White, the paint on this truck is 100% original and looking great after 44 years, a testament to its garaged existence. If you put your nose right up to it you'll see some faint micro-crazing in places, to me it's a marker of originality and a point of pride. Overall the paint finish stands tall and shows very well. The body on this old Ford is arrow straight, showing no dents or dings, very impressive in person. No trace of rust anywhere top or bottom, not a single bubble or blister. Tires have good tread and no sidewall checking. The gate is in excellent shape, lights and lenses are original but look new, rear bumper is flawless. Excellent grill, lenses and emblems. Front bumper is terrific as well. The bed carried a camper for most of its life, there are some rub marks from it but the trade off is that it has no dents from use. Factory sliding window is in great shape. Original emblems are all in great shape, factory FoMoCo camper mirrors are still looking good. The interior is like stepping back into 1970, it's just extremely well preserved. The seat had a plastic cover on it since new, I carefully removed it last week for the first time in 44 years, it will be included if the new owner wishes to re-install it. Thanks to this cover, the upholstery underneath was perfectly preserved, it looks showroom new. All instruments work as intended except for the temp gauge. I have taken infrared readings at operating temperatures and they are normal. Wipers, horn, signals, etc all function correctly. The radio makes sound when it clicks on but doesn't seem to have volume. Ashtray is unused. A/C was recently converted to R-134a, it's fully charged and blows ice cold. Dash pad has no cracks or splits. Steering wheel has no cracks, aftermarket cruise control was installed but is not functioning, I haven't taken the time to troubleshoot it. All of the glass are factory CarLite originals, even the windshield. The windshield had one small star on the lower left corner, after the pictures were taken I had it professionally filled and sealed. Excellent jambs and door panels. The factory rubber mat has protected the carpet all these years, it's in great shape underneath. Clean headliner and trim, nice behind the seat as well. The truck has seatbelts for 3. The 390 V8 starts readily and runs strong. This truck runs and drives as well as it looks. Turn the key and go, it shifts great, brakes well and rides down the road with no drama or problems. If you're familiar with FE motors you know that they're prone to exhaust leaks. This motor runs quiet as a mouse, you won't be dealing with exhaust problems in this truck. The windshield washer resevoir is cracked, an OEM replacement is included. The 3rd photo below shows the truck's data plate, it decodes as follows: F25: F250 2WD H: 390 V8 R: San Jose, CA assembly plant G90891: Sequential Unit number shows Nov 69 build date WB: 131" Long wheelbase truck Color: WB Wimbleton White / Boxwood Green Model: F254 : 6900 GVW Body: W4: Medium Ivy Green interior, Styleside body Trans: G: Automatic Axle: 24: 4:10 Dana 60 Rear 06900: GVW Cert HP: 180 @4000 rpm DSO: Distict Code: 73: Salt Lake City Order #: 2115 Solid and original undercarriage. The truck comes with the original owners manual, warranty paperwork and service receipts from both owners. Click here for a slideshow of all of the enlarged images.
