Vehicle Detail

1982 Jeep J10 Laredo Bone stock example 112K miles, original paint Excellent maintenance history Here up for bids at No Reserve is this well preserved Jeep J10 Laredo.  This truck got its start in Southern California and stayed with its original owner until 2001 when it was gifted to his daughter.  She kept the truck to the same standards as her father, basically continuing strict routine maintenance and cosmetic detailing.  In her words: "My Dad bought this Jeep new. He was an extreme perfectionist. He washed, waxed, and detailed it every 3 weeks. Kept it undercover in Southern California. He had it professionally cleaned & serviced every 6 months." If you've been in the market for a good J10 you know that finding an unmodified example is tough.  Finding one without rust issues is harder.  Finding one with original paint is next to impossible.  This truck checks off all those boxes, just a terrific example of AMC's top of the line truck offering in 1982.  Click to enlarge any of the photos below, a link to a slideshow of all the enlarged images is available to view at the bottom of the page. Original paint eliminates a lot of guesswork about a car's past, what you see is what you get and you'll like what you see with this truck.  The body is very straight with no dents, no rust issues and no damage.  The Laredo decal kit is original and for the most part hanging in there but does show heavy fading on the hood and some minor wear in other areas.  The paint is in good shape but shows some nicks and scuffs here and there.  Wheels and tires are excellent; the tires have good tread, the chrome on all 4 wheels look great with no pitting or flaking. This truck was polished so often that the paint has actually worn thin on the hood and on some of the body's hard edges, see the 1st photo below.  The 2nd photo shows the only ding on the truck, a little blem on the hood.  The clear chip guard on the passenger side wheel arch has oxidized, the driver's side still looks good.  Both bumpers are in great shape as well as the factory brush guard. Straight and clean from every angle.  Not perfect, but the type of truck you can actually get out and use.  Take it to the car show in the morning and to the Home Depot in the afternoon. Very nice bed showing minimal wear.  Factory roll bar in nice condition.  Windshield has been replaced and is crystal clear. Interior is all original and holding up very well after 32 years.  Carpet shows a little wear in spots, seats are like new. The Laredo J10's were heavily optioned with such standard features such as power windows and locks, tilt wheel and A/C. Dash pad is in great shape with the exception of one little nick right in the center of the leading edge. Good door panels, the power windows and door locks all work but have a couple of old car quirks.  The driver's side window makes a clunk once it reaches the top of its travel, and the driver's side door lock plunger has a habit of falling into the locked position over time.  Weatherstripping is original and still in good shape.  The headliner is nice from front to back with no sags or tears. Fan, heater, fresh air vents, horn, signals, lights and wipers all work as they should.  "Super-Tuner" cassette radio.  Ashtray fit is a little off.  The A/C blows cool but not ice cold.  The glovebox contains the original owners manual and warranty booklet.  Also included is a hand written booklet chronicling the truck's service history. Below are scans of each entry in the service booklet.  Each image below shows 6 pages in 2 rows reading from left to right, click to enlarge. All gauges show excellent readings, the truck runs and drives just super.  On cold starts you pump the gas once, hit the key and the 258 L6 fires instantly with the correct fast idle.  Warms quickly and shows strong performance.  The truck rides down the road with a sure footed feel, it tracks straight, brakes well and offers plenty of power.  Clutch is strong and the transmission shifts smoothly.  The truck will cruise at 60mph in 4th gear, shift into 5th and it becomes a low rev-ing freeway machine. 4WD works correctly. Great undercarriage, zero rust issues and no signs of damage or previous repair.  No leaks either, totally dry and won't leave drips on your garage floor.
