Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1954 Jaguar XK120 OTS roadster. HISTORY -- This car was purchased by a young man in the early ‘60s. In 1964 he was drafted into the US Army, so he stored this car in his parents garage with the plan to get it back out when he returned from his stint in the army. He was sent to Viet Nam and you can probably guess what happened there. The car sat in his parents’ garage from 1964 until both parents died about 2 years ago, at which time it was sold to settle their estate. MECHANICAL – When I bought the car 2 years ago, the oil was changed and we were able to get it running fairly easily by using an external fuel source. The engine sounded good and there was no smoke, although we didn’t run it for longer than a minute or so because there was no coolant added. It has not been started since that time. BODY – This is one of the most rust-free old cars I’ve ever seen. There is no rust in the frame, body, fenders, fender wells, sills, bottoms of the doors, trunk, spare tire area, etc. The only rust I could find anywhere were a couple very small holes behind the rocker panels in an obscure area. It doesn’t appear that the car has ever been in an accident. When sighting along the slab sides of the car, there are no ripples anywhere. It is as straight as an arrow. Everything fits up nicely too. The original color of the car was black with red interior. There has never been any attempt at a restoration on this car in the past. The current green paint was added in the early ‘60s. I have the Heritage Certificate for the car which verifies that it is a complete, numbers-matching car throughout, including the original engine, cylinder head, and transmission. I purchased a complete set of interior for the car in the correct red color from Heritage Jaguar interiors in Washington. They apparently do more concours Jaguar interiors than any other company in the USA. The interior includes every soft item in the cockpit and trunk area, as well as a new top with correct small glass window, new tonneau cover, new side curtains and chrome side cortain frames, upholstery, new foam cushions, paneling, carpets, dash paneling, battery area covers, and any other soft trim pieces. This all cost me $7,500 and will NOT be included with the car unless you click the “Buy It Now” button. However, I will be willing to sell it all to the winning bidder for an additional $5,000 if he is interested. It is all in perfect, new, concours condition, and is about a year old now, still in the boxes it was shipped to me in. Everything that was originally leather is leather, and all other materials are as original as well. I expect payment within 5 days of the end of the auction. The car can be picked up after your check has cleared my bank. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I can give the name of a good, reliable shipper if you wish. NOTE: Buyer will be given a Bill of Sale and a DelawareTitle for this car If you have any questions, you can use the “Ask Seller A Question” box, or call me at (912) 638-7954 or (912) 222-5771 between 9 AM and 9 PM, Eastern time.
