Vehicle Detail
1972 GMC Super Custom 1500 4x4 Long Bed AT,PB,AC,PS, 60% RestoredBidders, You are bidding on a 1972 GMC Super Custom 1500 4x4 Long Bed fleetside truck. This truck has been in my family since it was bought new in 1972. It has 183,614 original miles on it. It had the original 350 4 bolt main engine rebuilt to a balanced 383 Stroker at 122,000 miles, so the engine has 61,000 miles on it. It is equipped with Edelbrock Intake Manifold, Edelbrock Performer Quadrajet 4 Barrel Carb, Edelbrock valve covers, K&N air filter, Electronic ignition and Doug Thorley Headers with tuned dual exhaust system. Also, the motor was done at Larry's Engine Shop in Tucson Arizona, well known throughout the west coast for his custom designed motors. The Transmission is a brand new rebuilt with only 250 miles on it. It is an automatic 3 speed turbo 350. The truck has 4 new 31x10.50xR15 Falken ZIEXSTZ tires (500 miles on them). Mounted on custom chrome rims with locks. Truck does have a standard spare mounted underneath bed. New radiator, water pump, belts, hoses, thermostadt. The factory AC needs charged. I have had to put 1-1/2 pounds of r12 in the system every summer so it must have a very slow leak somewhere in the system. Also, the gas guage only shows just above the 1/4 mark when the tank is full, I was told it was probably the sending unit is bad. The truck has two 18 gal. auxillary gas tanks, one on each side, they are disconnected! But you still have the original 18 Gal tank behind the seat.NOTE!! Buyers, you are bidding on a one owner classic! The pictures pretty much tells it all. When I say the truck is about 60% restored, I am referring to the drive train. Motor and Transmission cost to date is about $6500.00. The only things you have to complete to make it a very nice restored 72 is paint and some very little body work. The truck is practically 100% original. except for the motor. But the block is the original 4 bolt GM 5.7L. A super nice good running 72. Any questions just ask! On May-28-14 at 07:29:05 PDT, seller added the following information: ITEMS THAT ARE NOT ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT: REAR BUMPER (came off of a 1980 Chevy Truck), Tire rims. Both auxcillary gas tanks were install a week after the truck was purchased. Bench seat is the original but was re-upholstered. Carpet was replaced. Cab mounts were replaced. I've replaced a number of little things like door seal trims, gas tank cover behind seat, etc! ITEMS THAT NEED TO BE REPAIRED: Front bumper has dent in center and some drill holes where my father mounted a trailer hitch for launching his boat, Small holes in both doors from truck mirrors I took off (I put the original mirrors back on), small dent in rear left bottom panel at rear bumper, small dent on right side next to auxillary tank fill door, one piece of bottom body trim at auxillary tank got slightly damaged, There is a small section of the bed that was welded in place to fill a hole (same material was used to match the bed bottom pattern). On May-28-14 at 07:36:57 PDT, seller added the following information: Also! The dash mat is the original but was covered with new tan colored naugahide to match the factory color. On May-28-14 at 10:06:59 PDT, seller added the following information: Other things! The steering wheel is original and has some cracks in it but is structurely sound. On May-28-14 at 12:57:38 PDT, seller added the following information: GOOD CLEAN EMMISSIONS PASSED!! TAGS GOOD TILL APRIL 2015 On May-28-14 at 14:14:54 PDT, seller added the following information: Has the original am/fm radio! the am/fm slide tab works but does not have the tab indicator when you switch from am to fm. I have a new speaker and mounting bracket but haven't installed it, so you will get it new in a box. The radio still works but is scratchy sounding when volume is turned up or down. Typical for old radios!! All switch knobs are original! When my father ordered the truck in 72, he ordered it with the optional manual throttle adjustment. He was planning to put a winch on the truck but never did. The throttle cable is disconnected from the gas pedal but the throttle knob is still on the bezel, (very rare). The auxillary gas tank switches are located on the left side of the instrument panel. but only the main tank switch works because the other tanks are disconnected.
