This auction is for a rare 1981 Suzuki GN400X that has recently gone through a complete mechanical rebuild and was cosmetically customized. It is otherwise completely stock! Bike was purchased at an estate sale with only 8685 miles on it. It had sat for years in a garage, luckily the engine turned over with very good compression, and there was no damage to the bike (see "before" photos, #2 and #3). Suzuki built these bikes from1980 to1982 based on their SP400 enduro bikes, there were two models, this GN400X with low bars and wire spoke wheels, and a GN400T with cruiser bars and cast aluminum wheels. The engine internals on this bike were left untouched. It was painted with high heat paint, the sidecovers were sprayed with PPG gloss black acrylic enamel to an almost mirror finish. Other than an oil and filter change, valve adjustment, camchain adjustment, carb rebuild and a new spark plug, the engine is stock. The wheel rims, handlebars, rear grab rail, headlamp brackets, lower triple tree cover, chainguard, kickstarter lever, taillight mounting bracket, rear brake lever, front and rear footrest brackets, and rear turn signal brackets were all powder coated gloss black. Front fork lowers, turn signal housings, upper triple tree, engine sidecovers, and wheel hubs were painted PPG gloss black. Stock exhaust was sandblasted and painted in high temp satin black. New parts include NOS spokes, ignition switch, new tires and tubes, new brake pads and shoes, all new cables, grips, brake master cylinder reservoir, caliper rebuild kit, nickel plated o-ring chain, front and rear sprockets, left handlebar control switch, levers, fork seals, battery, etc. Tank has a NOS cap with keys, was coated inside with Por-15, has rebuilt petcock. Seat is stock, in very nice condition. Paint is PPG basecoat/clearcoat, color is 1998 Toyota Copper Canyon Mica. These bikes had a long fork "chopper" look to them as stock, you'll notice I lowered the front end 1 1/8" to level the bike out. Bike had no title when purchased, I have obtained a new title and a Vermont license plate through Moto Recycle Title Service. The bike runs, everything works, is 95% finished. It needs another new battery, tuning and final carb adjustment. Why is it for sale with only 8 miles on it after all this work? During the build on this motorcycle, I herniated a disc in my lower back and pinched the sciatic nerve in my right leg. Even with the starter positioning feature on this bike, I'm no longer able to kickstart a big single. (These did not come with an electric starter). My loss, your gain.
