Vehicle Detail
1968 Volkswagen Bus CamperType 2 Westfalia This is a very original, very clean, very complete 1968 Volkswagen Type 2 Westfalia, it is in very good condition and needs very little that we are aware of. It is an unrestored Pacific Northwest Survivor Very nice and featuring all of its original camping gear, these are tough to find in this great of condition. It really does hearken back to a simpler time and is an absolute blast to cruise around in. The paint appears shiny and smooth with no large imperfections. The Orange main body paint is fresh and looks great. The interior looks to be original and is in very good condition, no rips, tears or stains in the upholstery. It appears not to have any water leaks or damage from being outside too much. It also doesnt have any bad smells or seem to have been smoked in. The Pop-Top functions great and the original upper cot is intact and functional. There is some tearing in the canvas, as well as some stains, this is one of the few items I would probably replace. The motor runs great, does not smoke, starts well hot or cold, although it does leave a few drips of oil on the ground as these usually do. It was rebuilt 36k miles ago, so I am sure it just needs some gaskets to seal it up. The tires are like new, and the suspension is much improved over stock with large sway bars and quality shocks. The suspension upgrades really make this bus drive much better than most. All bus's should have these upgrades, but they are expensive. The motor is a 1600cc single port with a Dual Weber ICT kit. Plus other upgrades like larger oil sump and ignition upgrades. The transmission shifts as it great with a Scat shifter, linkage is tight and syncros are good. The transmission was rebuilt by German Transaxle of America and features a 4.12 final drive. There is very little rust to be found on this vehicle; I have included a picture of the right front corner that has a small amount of rust present. This would be an easy repair, or not to worry about. This bus it appears to have been garage kept and very, very well taken care of over the years. If you are in the market for one of these charming old rigs, look no further, this is a great example.
