Vehicle Detail
This is nice, I get the chance to offer one of the most classic muscle cars ever made - 1968 Camaro Convertible SS. This car is being sold for a close friend and we are in easy contact, any questions or showings can be easily answered or arranged in short order. Our goal is to sell this beautiful car, full disclosures, hassle free. Here is my best to describe, please know that I am familiar with Camaros in general and engines and such. Ask any question - We'll do our best to answer. Short story of the car, so that you aware of all that we know. Very Low Reserve, reserve set way below car value. This car was literally found put away in a garage by us about one year ago. It had been sitting in the garage for the last 20 years, and the past owner had passed. The car was/is an intact very original unrestored 1968 Camaro Convertible, covered in vintage dust. No one had touched the car since the 1980's and never had any kind of modern restoration done. The previous owner has been deceased for many years, and, the car was part of an estate - the title for the car could not be located. Thus the title for the car is re-issued, states 'Court Ordered', this is a valid and correct title verified by the BMV and inspected by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. See Pix. We discovered that it does have some vintage older bodywork all very obvious and very minor. The car shows 77,000 miles and my best guess is that this is the correct mileage on this car, after very close inspection of condition and paperwork. ok, The car was found with the interior partially disassembled and non-running. 4 obviously old 25 year old tires, dust. So we installed new carpet, Tires, had the seats redone, and ordered and installed a brand new crate Performance 327 trick engine. We installed a new fuel tank, replaced all brake and fuel lines, we had the brake calipers rebuilt. We bought all new engine related components with performance in mind. Other than that we removed the dust! and have a running functional power monger rock crusher muscle car which is just awesome to hear and drive. At this moment, we have put maybe 20 miles on this brand new engine to make sure it was rock solid. it is.. The engine is a powerhouse and runs flawlessly. I have a recording of the engine running that i can text or email too you, I may even be able to link that recording into this listing. A beautiful fresh 335(+) hp 327 ready and roaring. so to describe the car... 1968 Camaro Convertible, 335 HP 327 cid Performance engine newly built by D&J Machine and Performance Engines (spec below), Engine is 'correct' for a '68 Camaro. 2-bolt Main Bearings, Munsey 4 speed M20 Rock Crusher Transmission, B&M Shifter, 12 bolt PosiTraction Rear End (low Ratio), 600 Carburetor by Edelbrock, also Edelbrock Intake W/ Square Bore, New aluminum performance (BB capacity) Radiator and Electric Fan by Champion, Summit rev limit Performance Ignition, MSD Distributor, large newer Hooker 'tuned' Headers, New alternator by Fulton Armature in Chrome, 100 amp, Original style Camaro chrome wheels in good condition with original centers, much chrome engine trim as seen in photos. Larger dual piston front disk brakes. Drums in rear. Set of original frame rails, extensions, included with car, found with car uninstalled, these look new. The Car starts and runs great, drives well with no problems with suspension or steering elements. Shifts well, car can be driven with no issues, all lights and wipers work correctly. nice firm new clutch and pedal and steering action, brakes work well newly rebuilt calipers on front. Aftermarket radio, Convertible top is in fair condition, slight staining or dirt, closes/seals tight, there is a small 1" tear or rip in the top, hard to notice still very useable. Automatic convertible top is not working but all seems intact, the Electric (performance) Fan installed with a manual switch and remains 'on' as we have not installed a thermostat switch for this into the block. Tires are brand new BF Goodrich. Car body is nice, No dents of any note. some older (slight) rust repairs are apparent. very minor for a Camaro, Original floor had been repaired prior to installing new carpet. Original floor pans are NOT rusted out and all is sealed after repairs, Few scratches not perfect paint but very useable as is however we suggest the new owner will repaint the car. Older (minor) restoration work is seen on rear quarter lower corners and lower edges of door jambs, not major, however some minor rust was addressed years ago and will need re-done to be perfect. see photo of one area of Pass side door jams which shows older restoration and should be redone, a slight rust area. very slight repairs seen in lower door edges, not bad, probably should be reworked to be perfect I think these slight repairs date to 1980. The hood of the car is in good condition, OEM, one slight ding, it has obviously been replaced as it is a slightly different 'burnt orange' color while the car is original matador red. The chrome on the car is good, none of it is perfect, front and rear bumpers are pretty good 'driver' but the door handles do show some pitting. other chrome on car is all 'driver' quality and in fair condition with few exception. Completeness, The car is very 'original' and complete with a few exceptions. I noticed the plastic vent or rubber parts are missing from the door jambs, see pix, i see a missing door lock push bar on the drivers side. The door locks are present, no keys. The console is present and is in need of some restore or repaint, the gauges that should be in the console are missing. pls see pix. You are going to be pleased with this car, very little effort will make this car a show worthy Camaro. Engine specs, this was ordered and newly built just months ago. Please see the 'Tuffdawgengines' web site and this is their 335 hp 327 high performance SBC engine. All new performance components. We are able to assist with and possible provide delivery of this Camaro, details to be agreed.
