Up for auction is my 1976 Triumph T160 Trident. I acquired this Trident sometime ago from a private collector. As you know from my feedback and other auctions, I am personally more of a Japanese motorcycle collector and do not specialize in British makes but because of the nice original and low mileage condition of this Trident I decided to acquire it. Although my knowledge around British makes is limited, I do feel this is a very, very nice original Trident with extremely low miles-only 3,536. The frame number appearing on this Trident is T160BK01320 and Engine Number appearing on this Trident is T160BK01320 making it a matching numbers original example. As mentioned earlier, this example has 3,536 miles on it which I feel are original and correct. The last time this Trident was on the road was the early 1980’s. According to the original owner, this Trident did run well when stored and I’m sure it will need some general maintenance such as cleaning the carburetors and any other general maintenance as recommended by Triumph. This Trident is in overall good original condition and would be an outstanding example to add to a collection as a low mileage original or an outstanding starting point for a complete restoration as most of the original parts are present and in good condition. The only areas of this Trident that I can see needing immediate attention are the following outside some general maintenance as mentioned in the first paragraph: The exhaust appear to be original but the mufflers are rusty and could use replacing. The exhaust including the head pipes and mufflers are not pictured but are included. The head pipe set up could be used or fixed and re-chromed. The side cover is missing and the rear grab rail is also missing as well as the drive chain. I do have a set of oil cooler reflectors that are included with the Trident as well. The body work on this trident is in overall very nice original condition. The fuel tank is outstanding and features unbelievable original paint. The inside of the tank is clean as new with no rust of any kind. I could not find one dent anywhere on the tank outside a very, very small ding on the top left hand side of the tank. It would really be a shame to repaint a nice original fuel tank such as this example. The side cover that is present looks to be original and nice. The front and rear fenders are in nice original condition. The front fender appears to be the correct stainless steel fender. The rear fender is chrome and is in excellent condition with no visible damage or dents. The chrome fork ears and headlight bucket are nice as well and the fork ears are straight and not bent. The gauges are in excellent condition and show no signs of fading. The tires appear to be the originals or period correct replacements. The handlebars are straight and the chrome is very nice. The seat is a very nice original with a solid pan and only a very small tear that could easily be repaired near the back of the seat. The engine turns over with excellent compression. The bike is overall very clean and has not been modified or molested in any way that I can see and would be an ideal candidate to keep original with a few parts added or easily the best example to do a complete restoration with as it is a very, very deserving candidate. I also of course have a clear title in my name for this Trident as well. Overall, as mentioned, I am not a British model expert but do have many Japanese examples and New Old Stock parts and this appears to be a very real, low mileage original example of a 1976 Triumph T160 Trident. I feel it would be very, very difficult to find another low mileage, original example such as this one especially with only 3,536 miles. I am convinced the new owner will appreciate the overall originality and quality of this Trident as they will have an excellent original example or an outstanding starting point for a restoration.
