Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1970 T500R Titan. I purchased this T500 sometime ago as I felt it was an original example that would be the perfect starting point for a complete, show quality restoration and could be used as a nice original in the meantime. Unfortunately, with so many motorcycles in my collection, I now realize I am never going to have the time to give this T500 the attention it deserves. The frame number appearing on this Titan is T500-29146 and the engine number appearing on this Titan is T500-29146 making this a numbers matching, correct original example. The speedometer currently reads 17,302 miles. The build date on the steering neck reads 5/70. I am convinced the new owner of this Titan is going to have an outstanding starting point for a restoration or could enjoy this Titan in its more original condition. I would also like to mention that this Titan should not be confused with other examples offered by unreliable and amateur sellers who have limited knowledge about these classic Japanese motorcycles. Cosmetically, this T500 is mostly original and the fuel tank does show some patina and does have a few dings but is overall a very, very nice original fuel tank. The inside of the fuel tank is bright and shiny metal and is very clean. The chrome parcel rack is in great condition and is mounted to the tank with the correct screws. The side cover is present and does not have any visible cracks or other damage and was repainted the incorrect color at some point. The side cover emblem is present as well. The oil tank is also present and in nice original condition. The original seat was professionally recovered with a high quality reproduction cover and looks outstanding. The original front and rear fenders are present with no visible major damage. The original chrome chain guard is also mounted in the correct location and is a very nice original. The correct rear shocks and air box /intake assembly are also mounted in their correct orientations. The original headlight bucket as well as correct headlight bulb and fork ears are also present and in nice usable original conditions. Correct front and rear turn signals as well as the original tail light are also a nice feature of this T500. All the electrical components including gauge lights, signals and horn also function properly. The original handlebars appear to be straight with very nice original chrome and feature the correct and original handlebar switches as well as the correct hand grips. The correct gauges are also mounted and in very nice overall condition. The exhaust pipes on this T500 are in overall very, very nice condition. It would be difficult to find an original and solid set of T500 pipes like these and this is one of the main reasons I targeted this particular example. The exhaust on this T500 are solid with no major dents or visible damage. They also do not appear to have any visible scrapes or other damage and also feature good, original factory chrome. These nice and very difficult to find original pipes could be cleaned up and used as is or could easily be re-chromed to show quality with minimal effort because of their nice condition. Mechanically, this T500 has not been running since last summer but was running and driving at that time. This T500 was tuned and a new battery installed last summer. As with all old motorcycles, I would recommend some general maintenance and maybe even cleaning the carburetors before operating this T500. It does turn over very smoothly with excellent compression and in my opinion is no doubt mechanically solid. The engine and engine area as well as the carburetors are also very clean and correct. Overall, this is a mostly original and a very nice example of a 1970 Suzuki T500. I feel this would be the perfect example to enjoy as an original or would be an outstanding starting point for a restoration as most all of the key parts are present and in very nice original condition. This would be a great T500 to enjoy this summer as well. I also of course have a clear title as well as original Suzuki keys for this very nice T500.
