Vehicle Detail

They make TV shows about "pickers" finding things like this in the back of some rancher's barn. Now it is your turn to find dusty gold. Farm fresh, stored for about 10 years. The 10 years before that I drove it less than ten times. This is a very straight Mustang convertible. Let me try to answer the questions before they are asked: I am the second owner of this car. My name is currently on the title. I have owned it for about 30 years. For the last 10 years, I kept it under cover. I put less than 30k miles on it in 30 years. The odometer does not show 100ks but I am certain it has over 100k but less than 200k. I live in the central valley, an area that is dry and dusty. That is great for storing vehicles because no rust and no salt on the roads. As far as I know, it has never left California. It was made in the Bay Area and the original owners lived in the central valley. It runs. I started it but only ran it for about 15 seconds. I believe the carb will need a little work and fresh gas in the tank. I just wanted to be certain it would run. It is a 250 straight 6. It will take a little work to make this a daily driver. It is a 3 speed on the floor. The body is straight. As far as I know, the body is all original. It is not a patchwork quilt of different parts. I had it painted 30 years ago and it needs a paint job again. (The car is very photogenic.) There is surface rust (easily sanded off) where the paint has chipped or cracked. Some small pitting on the chrome. I washed the car before the pictures and that is the only rust I found. The fabric of the top is a loss. It will need a new top. It is an automatic top but it has never worked the entire time I have owned it. All the steel frame is straight and ready for a new skin. The interior is in very good shape. The seats have no rips. The carpet is in good shape. Dusty and musty from storage. (I did not detail the interior before the pictures. That is straight from storage.) The dash has a crack. It does not have the original radio, I was young and stupid and put in a Sparkomatic. I did not cut any sheet metal or interior pieces so putting a stock radio back in will be very easy. The driver side door will not open. It feels like it will not unlock. I believe it is a linkage issue.I have another wiring harness for this car, spare, jack, and the original hubcaps. (Also, 4 additional hubcaps for Mustangs.) Those will go with the car. The tires are older. I would suggest replacing them before driving. I will try to answer any questions. If I miss your question, do not assume. I do not offer shipping or delivery. You are 100% responsible. It is offered where is and as is. You will be expected to move the car 10 business days after payment. I do not accept money orders, personal checks, or other easily forged forms of payment. I do accept cash and paypal. A $500 deposit is required within 48 hours of the end of the auction. Full payment is expected within 10 days of the close of the auction. I reserve the right to cancel this auction before any bids are placed.Top down, cool breeze, smell of the ocean. I can not put a price on the thumbs up from the surf bums or the looks from the beach bikini beauties. If you ever had a car that turns heads, you know what I am talking about. Cruising Hwy 1 down the California coast in a classic convertible is a bucket list dream. This car is a one of a kind and I am sad that I have to let it go. On May-04-13 at 23:49:47 PDT, seller added the following information: *********************************************************************************************************************** I want to have a gentleman's talk with you and try to answer the same basic question. I have gotten several questions about the reserve. People think that there is something wrong because I didn't put a reserve. I can assure you, this car is a very good, complete, straight, and solid Mustang. It has been stored and covered for ten years. No dents. No rot. No cancer. No title issues. Running. The interior is complete with no tears. Good brakes. If you have doubts, ask questions. It is my understanding that there were fewer than 500 of this variant made. I have never seen another in person, on-line, or in magazines. I have been looking for 30 years. If you notice, almost every classic Mustang on here has a reserve. I can guarantee you their reserve will be the market value or more. The market value of this car is from $11000 to $30000. (check the "nadaguides" values if you don't believe me.) Looking online and in the paper, there are no 1964 to 1970 Mustang Convertibles within 300 miles of me selling for less than $13,000. You can try to find a rusted, gutted, half finished project and try to pay a little less. (You will probably end up paying more.) It will be missing parts that will cost double what you are saving. It will take years to piece and weld it back together with after-market and junk yard scrap. You might even get it running someday. Or you can get a complete vehicle that can be going with a few days of TLC. You can be driving it this summer, not when your 3 year old daughter graduates college. Why no reserve? If this is such a good car, why not hold out for full price? Unfortunately, I am under time and financial pressures. As a gentleman, I hope you understand that I prefer not to discuss it further. I would never sell this car at any price if circumstances were different. Ladies and Gentlemen, NOW IS THE TIME TO BID!!! I guarantee if you do not try you best to get this car, you will regret it. This will probably be your last chance to get an excellent classic Mustang for less than the market value. You will never see this good a deal again. Period.
