Vehicle Detail
1962 VW Single Cab Type II Pickup Vintage Volkswagon 1962 Volkswagon Single Cab This great looking VW just came out of a collection in the pacific northwest. When I picked up the Single Cab it was over 60 miles away from my shop at night, and it drove home great. You knever know when you get in a vehicle of this age how it will be, but I can say it was one of the most fun drives I have made in a long time. The transmission shifted suprisingly well with no grinds, and for having almost 10 feet of linkage, it was precise. It starts right up and idles great. It had a recent tune up with many supension items upgraded and replaced. When I put it on the rack for the underside photos, I could see new tie rods, newer KYB shock and master cylinder. The brakes stopped the VW great and it didn't wander . When I bought it, it had stock steel wheels and hubcabs on it. They will come with the purchase. The tires were oversized and did not track well because of the width. I ordered and put on brand New Empi GT5 wheels and proper sized tires. I had the wheels color patched to the tu-tone grey on the VW. The engine is all original to the best of my knowledge- the engine number is 9150022. When I bought it, the seller was very proud that he had painted it and done all the bodywork. While he was proud, I am not as impressed. The body and paint looks show quality from 10 feet away, but it does have small dents and uneven paint. I did not find any rust in the floors or old crash damage. I think the front floor may have been replaced, but I am not positive. Either way, the underside looks like it had a very good job done undercoating it when it was new, and it has saved this VW from rusting away. He did say that the VW emblem was the orginal and not a reproduction. I did replace the turn signal lenses with reproductions, because they were pretty shabby looking. All the window seals are brand new. The heater works great. As well with the fresh airbox on the roof. The center storage looks very good and has a spare in it. Another thing I was very impressed with was how the inside of the cab and under the seat looks, there is zero rust here. It does not have a radio, but at least know one has taken a saw to the dash and messed it up. These Split window VW's are really on the rise, and are sure to keep going up. This is a good opportunity to get a early classic VW. Please call for more details and be sure to watch the video to see all the details.
