We are the Best Deals on Classic Wheels! This is an authentic, matching numbers 1965 Pontiac GTO Hardtop. Many enthusiasts consider 65 to be the best year for this muscle car icon. With their snarling V8s, aggressive stance, and handsome lines, the early GTOs were in a class of their own. Hotrods had always been popular with the bad-ass crowd, but the GTO introduced the world to the concept of the big, fast, bad-ass ride that you could order direct from the dealerwhat we now know as the muscle car category. While the car needs significant restoration before its ready for shows, its originality makes it a strong, investment-grade restoration candidate that can be enjoyed on the road and will only appreciate if properly maintained. Fully restored, these cars are trading at $45,000-$55,000 or higher based on the quality of the restoration. We have the equipment, the experience, and the team to do this work right. This particular example was assembled in Pontiacs Michigan plant in early January 1965 and remains highly original throughout. Under the hood, it retains its original 389 cubic inch V8 and automatic transmission, and the interior appears to be all-original as well. We believe that the car has been painted twice since leaving the Pontiac plant, and its definitely due for a new paint job. Surface rust and paint bubbling are found in the usual places, (lower quarter panels, trunk lid, rockers, around windshield). In general, though, the body is in good, restorable condition. The interior is original and functional, but the upholstery throughout should be refreshed. New vinyl on the sport bucket seats would bring a lot of magic back to this GTO. Underneath, the car will need some attention, too. The floor pans should be replaced and the frame needs some repair in the rear. We are currently working through the mechanics of the car, but the cars runs and drives strong. We just rebuilt the carburator and are doing a minor tune up.
