WE SHIP WORLDWIDE We ship to Australia, and we do all the scheduling. Let us know which port, and we'll tell you the cost. I've been riding BMWs for more than twenty years, starting with the K-bikes of the ‘80s. Wanting a vintage airhead, I bought my first boxer twin in the 90's, it being a '71 R60/5. It had 187,000 miles on it, had the original pistons and rings in the original cylinders, and needed no mechanical work. The connecting-rod bearings had been replaced during its second valve-job, and the engine was a little 'tired', but it still ran well. I was impressed. Over the years I worked my way through the R75s, R80s, R100s, and have personally concluded that the R90/6 is the best, most versatile vintage bike I could ever find. The R90/6 has less power than the R90S, but it handles as well, and the Bing carburetors are user-friendly. I've ridden them on fire-roads, and dirt-bike trails. They will cruise the highways at 80 mph all day long, and they’ll whip through the canyon roads as well as any 35-year-old motorcycle I've ever owned. The R90 is equal in handling to a Norton Commando, another favorite vintage, but the two-up riding comfort and especially the reliability are far superior. 1976 was a pivotal year for BMW's engineering department. The engine and transmission were revamped greatly in '76. The alternator was enlarged, and transmission redesigned with updated shift internals. The engine got a stronger camshaft, the cylinder heads were redesigned. The crankshaft was strengthened. The cylinder base was enlarged to be the same size spigot as used in every airhead since. This bike has matching numbers, and a clear title. This bike has 72,780 actual miles. OVERHAUL MY wife and I bought the bike when it had about 59,000 miles on the clock. The bike ran well, but not knowing much of its history, I felt it was time for a valve job. Plus I wanted to switch the base gasket to a thicker style, lowering the compression to prevent detonation caused by today’s poor gas. My shop performed the work, and while we were inside the engine, we installed a new set of rings and connecting rod bearings. We also went through the steering-head bearings, brakes, and driveshaft. We "Kreemed" the inside of the gas tank. My wife and I rode the bike for the next 10,000 miles, changing oil every 2,000 miles (semi-synthetic oil), and servicing anything that was necessary. We sold the bike to a good friend/customer, and we've serviced it for him ever since. With only 14,000 miles on the engine overhaul, it shouldn't need any engine work for at least another 30,000 miles.
