AP6.0 Normal 0 1972 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible History (from the current owner) When my brother let me use his 1973 Eldorado convertible for my 1978 senior prom, I was hooked. The next year, I purchased this Eldorado from Roth Cadillac in Erie, PA (still in business and the oldest Cadillac dealer in the country). I’ve owned this car for 32 years. In the off season, it’s parked in a heated garage and has not seen winter roads (and very little rain) since a complete body restoration in 1981. Lately, I drive it about 600 miles a year - I just don’t have the time these days to enjoy it. This car runs, rides, and drives beautifully. Features · Lovingly maintained – good condition · Equipped with every available option offered in 1972 · 500 Cubic Inch/8.2 Liter – Front wheel drive · Original Service Manual · 97,527 original miles · Original in-dash 8 track player (that works) · Auto High Beam Dimming · Original white leather interior with rare fiberglass parade boot · Fiber optic light indicators · New front fenders and door skins (Original GM) 1982 · New chrome body moldings (Original GM) 1982 · New chrome mirrors (Original GM) 1982 · New shocks/air shocks, CV Joints, ball Joints, and other steering/suspension components 2002 · Total stainless exhaust 2002 · Tune up including points, condenser, dist. cap, rotor, plugs, and timing 2004/93,000 miles · New front disc brakes 2008 · New front knuckle assembly 2009 · Pennsylvania State Inspected Cosmetic and Mechanical Notes · The body was professionally restored in 1982 with the original lacquer “Firemist” Green color. It has survived well enough, but the paint is spider webbed, chipped, and cracking in some areas. There is some minor rust and body filler bubbling on the original quarter panels and fender skirt areas. There is also repairable rust under the door weather stripping and rocker panel/door jamb areas. · The vinyl convertible top (new in 1981) is in fair condition (edge seams and cables). It will keep you dry if you’re caught in a rain storm, but eventually it will need to be replaced or repaired. Mechanically it’s excellent. I have it down 99% of the time. · The air conditioning, cruise control, light sentinel, some positions of the power seats, and trunk auto-open do not work at this time. · The trunk interior needs to be finished upholstered · There is some transmission fluid seepage from the pan gasket area. The filter, fluid, and gasket were replaced in 2004. · A tow truck mistakenly picked the front of the car up instead of the rear end (because the CV joint failed in 1987) and moved the front bumper and cracked the grill. The bumper needs to be adjusted and related clearance for the hood to open correctly. The hood opens fine after I lift the driver side corner and then pull the hood release. · A valve job was done on the engine in 1983. The engine oil/filter was serviced every 3,000 miles. · The Michelin XW4 tires, new in 2002, have about 6,000 miles on them and look good.
