1998 FORD EXPEDITION XLT Perfect Mechanical Condition Everything Works! I just recently bought this car after a friend who knew I was looking for something with a tow hitch clued me in that it was in perfect mechanical condition. What I didn't realize when I bought it was that my underground carport only has a 77 inch clearance and the Ford Expedition needs 82 inches. I did realize it before I pulled in though, so the vehicle never got a scratched roof. However, I've been forced to park it on the street and where I live in the Hollywood Hills it is sometimes really difficult to find a parking space at night. So after a few evenings of sitting in the car for an hour waiting for someone down the block to give up a space, I've decided make my life easier and sell it. This SUV is in perfect mechanical condition. It needs nothing. It drives great, goes in a straight line at 80 MPH on the freeway and brakes without any pulling. The transmission is perfect without any problems. It changes between 2 wheel and 4 wheel drives with the flick of a dashboard switch. The cruise control works perfectly. It has front and rear air conditioning ( a separate refrigerant coil that supercools the back seats!) and it works great. The tires have about half their tread life left. This is a rust free Southern California car which has been in state since 2000. It is ready to drive anywhere. It just underwent the mandatory California Smog Test for the title transfer and passed it perfectly. No engine lights, no emissions issues, inspected and passed with no problems. The only issues with the car are that the previous owner was a smoker so I had the car detailed to get out the smell but there are a couple of dropped cigarette burns. However there are no rips or tears in the interior at all. Also there is a slight dent in the left rear quarter where someone else banged it in a parking lot. I got an estimate from a central Los Angeles body shop and the guy said $300. If you are local and want to get it done I will give you his details. There is a docking bay in the center console box for a 6 CD disk changer which was an original option but the changer was missing. There are a few for sale on eBay for about $30 so replacing it isn't really an issue. The wheels are premium alloy wheels that a previous owner painted black for some reason. It comes off with oven cleaner, but I haven't bothered because it looks okay the way it is. The Kelly Blue Book on the car is $4685, so I'll take $1000 off for the dent and the cigarette burns and sell it outright for $3600. I just bought another car and really have to sell this one, so now's your chance to get a great totally rust free Southern California SUV at a great price.
