Vehicle Detail
This is a relist! My Grandfather bought this brand new and it lived most of it's life in Boca Raton Florida. I inherited it in 2007 shortly after his death. This car has previously never been driven in the winter. This Vanagon has the original windshield! This vehicle has never been in an collision. Never smoked in! Ok, here are the the details you are waiting for: I completed the Subaru SVX engine conversion in May of 2009. This engine before installation was completely disassembled (orig 92k miles) and reassembled with all new Subaru OEM gaskets (all gaskets, even the valve seals). All new timing components, water pump, tensioner, iridium spark plugs, new accessory belt tensioner pulleys, all new hoses including all the multiple hoses under the throttle body. All new fuel hoses and fuel injector grommets and seals. This Vanagon also has a brand new $1700 Rancho remanufactured transmission with new differential gears and taller 3rd and 4th gears (3300 RPM at 70mph!) The SVX engine is electric motor smooth! Brand new (not rebuilt) C/V axles. The clutch is a Small Car specified heavy duty type designed for this 230 HP engine! The clutch pedal was replaced with a rebuilt one (now has bushing in place instead of stock metal to metal) New clutch master cylinder and new clutch hyd line from master-transmission. New throttle cable installed. Upgraded chip in computer from Small Car which increases power upon demand. The conversion is factory like quality with Small Car inc. conversion kit parts. The engine ECU is mounted in the stock VW location under the rear seat out of the elements and has the Subaru diagnostic connector as well. I have been a prof auto tech for 20 years and did this conversion with the utmost attention to detail and no expense spared. The headers are stainless steel and the rest of the exhaust custom made with functioning EGR valve and 2 oxygen sensors for factory performance and proper engine emission control. The original tach has been refaced with the Small Car SVX type and wired properly to make it accurate as it should be. The exhaust is quiet but sounds throaty like a Porsche 911! The fuel tank was removed and cleaned, updated grommets and all new breather lines installed, all new rubber fuel lines. The cooling system is new from the radiator to the engine except for the original long plastic pipes which are still like new! The alternator and starter are new, I rebuilt the power steering pump before installing the engine, new speedometer cable, new KYB factory spec struts, leveling spacers to keep the van at the proper height with the SVX engine, new radio antenna, new Sony stereo with cd, all new Pioneer speakers, The tires are 6 months old and are the proper load rated C class Hankook with the factory alloy rims. The refrig and stove work well, the battery is new as well. The paint is almost all original except for the slider door and lower rocker panel (was dented/scratched repaired (not the best job in the world) and paint blended into the rear quarter panel). The westfalia top was repainted due to fading, the rear hatch scratches were touched up with black paint from my grandpa who scraped some low tree branches while backing up. This van is solid and looks decent as is, but If this bus had a new paint job you would have a masterpiece! The upper front ball joints were replaced due to split rubber boots (the lowers are still original, tight and good boots) The A/C system has all new custom-made hoses from the A/C condensor to the compressor and converted to R134, and works very well as also does the front and rear heaters. The headlight adjusters have been replaced with updated parts. The interior is in good condition. The privacy curtains, bug screen, etc are all included. The entire Sky-Light was just replaced with all new components-even the mechanical parts. This Vanagon runs and drives fine and is ready to go anywhere you want to go. I built this van with the intention of never selling it, but because of a recent new family car purchase, I have to downsize my fleet. My grandparents logged many happy miles in this vehicle as so as I, but now needs to go to someone who can enjoy this. Please ask questions and look at pictures as I have described this vehicle to the best of my ability. No car that is 23 hours old is perfect. Complete with the original VW owners manual(s), factory VW service manual, Subaru SVX manual and high quality perfect-fit California Customs car cover. Please feel free to ask questions. Please email any questions to cntwheeler@msn.com I will respond quickly. I am on mountain STD time. The price on this vehicle is very reasonable, the conversion itself cost me over 8K, not including all the other work mentioned above. This is a nice van for a fair price. VANARU.com charges 12K for the engine conversion alone. Happy Bidding, but please bid only if you are serious and really have the available funds to make the purchase.
