1997 FORD ESCORT LX SEDAN This has been a great little car. The engine runs well, the windows & mirrors are all relatively fine and intact, the interior passenger compartment & trunk area is in good to great condition, the "electronics" (eg.: radio, dashboard, exterior lights) appear to work well, and, yes, the spare tire is in great condition--never had to use it! HOWEVER, I had to take this car off the road, and it is currently UN-DRIVEABLE, due to several mechanical issues that I simply cannot afford to repair at this time. As a result, this car would be a great "parts" car, or, a great car for a "budding" mechanic who would like to gain more experience in the field of automotive repair. Known issues include: The rear/passenger side shock and strut needs to be replaced/repaired, and there appears to be a brake line leak near the rear/passenger side tire that will need to be repaired. Also, the rear/passenger side tire is punctured in the tred (however, all other tires appear to be fine), the brake pedal needs a new small rubber "cushion" washer-type piece between the pedal and the brake light switch (easy fix), and the top of the front window may need re-sealing as it tends to leak from time to time when it rains hard. Additionally, there is significant body rust below the doors and above the rear tires (see photos), the driver's side external mirror was damaged many years ago (shortly after I purchased the car) and repaired with electrical tape (and, the mirror still works fine!), the driver's seat has a small quarter-size hole in the seat but all the rest of the upholstery throughout the passenger compartment is in very good condition! The air conditioner works, but, may need a recharging. And, as already mentioned, the engine runs well. Occasionally, the 'check engine' light does come on, but, it is not on now. There is a bit of rust on the hood, and, the driver's side head lamp does appear to have a leak somewhere as, every time it rains, water gets into the lamp housing--however, both lamps do still light. Please be sure to check out all of the photos! To my knowledge, this car has always had a "clear" title--no serious accidents that I've been involved with, or, that I am aware of. And, once again, this car has been taken off the road and is currently UN-DRIVEABLE. As a result, buyer will need to make arrangements to have it TOWED from it's current location in Sturbridge, MA.
