Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1941 Chevrolet COE cabover 4x4 I need to let the viewer be aware of a couple of things right away. 1) this is not my truck, I am selling for a friend who does not have access to a computer. 2) Any and/or all warranties, promises, descriptions, conditions and terms of sale regarding this truck are between buyer and seller. I am acting only as a selling agent on ebay for seller. The following is information as written and submitted by seller. For sale is a 1941 Chevrolet COE or cabover, 4x4 truck. Straight six cylinder. It is I believe a 1 1/2 ton. This is the first COE 4x4 Chevy truck I have been able to offer in over 35 years. Last driven and licensed in 1975. It is a US surplus military unit, and was used for only a couple years as a snow plow before being parked in the woods. Previous owner mounted a plow on it, and I removed it previous to getting home. There are a couple of places that have some remains of weld, that need to be cleaned up. We will try to do that before it leaves. The cab on this truck is a little shaky, and by that I mean that it has rust and other body issues. It has rust in the header area inside of cab, where the wiper motors are located. Has a little rust in bottom skin of doors on outside. Also the windshield frame has rust issues, but the windshield frame on conventional cab is same, so could be taken from such a cab. The floors inside look mostly solid. Some one did paint part of the interior black. Seat cushions are not original. Would need correct door handles, as one is missing on outside, and one is wrong. The fenders, and running boards/steps show cracks, and repairs, and having been done years ago, are weak in nature, so again, body work will be in order. Also you can see by pics, that some of the vertical bars in grille are missing, pretty much on left side. Back area of cab however looks to be not to bad, as well as corners of cab. Yes, the cab and fenders, etc., certainly are far from perfect, but keep in mind the rarity of this unit. Not only because it is a 1941 COE, but due to it being a 4x4. Body work certainly is warranted in this case. Odometer shows 38,000 plus miles but this may not be an accurate reading. The drive train from what I can tell, is pretty complete. Pictures are provided so you can see some details. I do believe everything appears original, but I offer no promises on that issue. Bidder/buyer to decide themselves as to that issues. I only offer what info I know, or believe to know concerning issues of condition, and authenticity of this unit. NO WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND offered with sale of this unit. Your bidding on this unit, means you accept these terms herein. The truck appears to have a wheelbase of 146". It has 20" tires. The head-lite rings are not original, but the marker lites on top are original, with original black out lenses (see pics). It has a unique grille guard that appears in good shape. We have not, and will not try to run the truck. I do not know condition of engine, but do believe it is loose. Bumper is original. There is another set of other rims with truck. You can still see the military ID number on hood of the truck. On Apr-30-10 at 06:42:36 PDT, seller added the following information: 4-29-2010.......I looked over original tags for truck in cab today. Some info was not readable due to age and fading of letters. Tag states its a model G4102, that its a 4x4 delivered March of 1941 to the qaurtermaster, and that it is a 1 1/2 ton version. Also looking over the truck, and the interior, I would say that the original color was a navy blue, with latter addition of the green and the orange paint. Interior original color appears blue. On May-02-10 at 17:09:25 PDT, seller added the following information: please direct all calls to Irv at 1-218-368-7853 9 AM to 6 PMOn May-03-10 at 11:48:00 PDT, seller added the following information: " 5-3-2010........A final couple notes. The gentleman who wrote in about the model number could be right? I don't know anything about these trucks. My description is based on my observations, and what I am told by others. I call it a 1941 as its titled a 1941. The serial number of truck may assist some of you. It is 14XY039258. As to the frame being shortened, it looks to have been. Right behind the gas tank, next to the cross member. I am told by several guys who contacted me, that the military often did this themselves. I cannot say, I don't know. It is, what it is. I cannot see ANY modifications to the drive-line. The drive shafts all look military in color, and none have been shortened or modified. Its being sold as is, where is, buyer to decide use for themselves, I express no promises, guarantee's etc of any kind. See terms of sale above.
