1966 Honda CL160 in good condition! Mostly complete and ready for a daily rider or a complete restoration. We purchased the bike a couple months ago as a parts/project bike. The previous owner said he bought it in 1995 and started a full restoration. He had the engine rebuilt by Garvis Honda in Des Moines (never ran the engine), had the frame sandblasted and painted, had the carburetors rebuilt, new tires and ignition switch. Then it happened... he got married, had kids, got a good job... you know the drill... So there the bike sat, for almost 25 years, untouched. You could tell by the tone of his voice that he didn't want to sell the bike but knew he was never going to get to it. When we got it back to the shop, we sorted thru all the pieces and bins of parts and started to reassemble it. The engine turned over but because it was sitting for so long we took the top end apart, cleaned up and installed new gaskets (the balance of the complete gasket set is included in the sale). We ultrasonically cleaned the carburetors and installed new plugs and battery. We set the points and the valves, gave it about 5 kicks and she started right up! The bike comes with brand new mirrors and the CL160 owners manual. The bike starts, runs and stops as it should. There are a few things that we noticed along the way that should be repaired. One exhaust stud is broke and the exhaust is leaking slightly. Most people (with a little patience and a couple tools) can fix this themselves but if you can't, it is very easy to remove the engine, 6 bolts and 6 color coded wires. If you bring the engine into a muffler shop, they are pro's at getting these out and usually fairly cheap. The air filters were shot so we put on new Pod filters. The tail light works but the instrument and head light do not. I am sure this is a minor issue like a poor connection. The engine leaks a little oil. The gasket set included in the sale should take care of that. The front fender is missing, the previous owner supplied one but it was not for this bike. The paint is not original (and appears to be rattle can). There may be more but those are the big items we noticed. This is not a perfect bike but it is mostly complete and would make a great restoration project! You don't see alot of CL160's anymore and they are a blast to ride!
