1979 Honda 6 Cylinder CBX1000Z CBX 1000 Z First Year 8900 Original Miles L@@K !! Up for auction is this 1979 Honda CBX1000Z Super Bike. Fresh out of long time storage. Sitting in a garage for over 30 years untouched. In need of a complete overhaul or restoration. Previous owner who was elderly claims the pistons are free but there was a issue with either a rod or timing chain because the engine only turns over 90%. This issue was back in 1988 then it became strictly a conversation piece until now. Its back into the sunlight and ready for someone to tear down and get back on the road. I have not tried to start this bike because it is in need of engine repair. There has only been 2 owners of this bike. I have a clean CT title and the original Honda key as well as the original manual and tool kit. The bike has marks and scratches throughout. There is surface rust also throughout the bike. Gas cap has a crack in it as shown in photos and there is some rust inside gas tank that will need to be addressed. The best I can describe the bike is Its in the condition of a bike that was sitting for 30 years so please expect corrosion and "patina". Bike does roll freely so brakes are not frozen. Clutch and throttle move and are not frozen. I tested the gears and shifted it into all gears then back into neutral with no issue. Mufflers have a few marks but seem solid. I tested the lights and the lights do work as well as horn. Everything pictured is what I have. No extra parts included. On Sep-17-18 at 17:00:47 PDT, seller added the following information: I AM GETTING LOTS OF QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MOTOR, PLEASE NOTE I AM NOT A MECHANIC, I AM TOLD THE MOTOR HAS TO COME OUT TO E REPAIRED IT TURNS OVER THEN IT LOCKS UP AND IT WILL TURN BACK IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION , MY FRIEND REMOVED THE SIDE COVER AND TURNED IT OVER WITH A SOCKET ..THEY SAID IT COULD BE A ROD MAYBE THE TIMING CHAIN I DONT KNOW . THERE IS NO OIL LEAKING OR ANY PARTS HANGING OUT OF THE MOTOR ,SOMEONE ASKED ABOUT CRACKS IN THE ENGINE ON THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE LOWER RIGHT HAND SIDE VERY HARD TO SEE THERE WAS A SMALL CHIP ? Looking at the Vin plate on the headstock you have an August 1978 CBx which these days is quite sought after, the issue with the Engine could very likely be to a bent conrod which was common on the early bikes being parked on the sidestand allow fuel to leak into No1 cylinder then locking hydraulically on start up and bending the rod.. yes it's a resto job but with the toolkit and handbook don't be tempted to give it away... regards Keith M, Suffolk England..
