As to myself, I am a (68) year old kid that loves muscle cars. For my work, I am retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and had worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, please check out my eBay feedback that is at 100% with (1,188) transactions. Many of my transactions have been muscle cars, which I have sold to individuals all over the country as well as Canada, England, France, Switzerland, Germany, Australia and the Netherlands. My reputation for honesty is well known amongst muscle car lovers. Just some quick history on the 1965 Chevrolet Impala Like the Impala designers had ants in their pants, the Fourth Generation Impalas (1965-1970) was another year for a full revamp. Redesigned, the Impala set an all-time industry annual sales record of more than 1 million units in the US. All new full-size Chevrolets eschewed the "X" frame for a full-width perimeter frame, a new body that featured curved, frameless side glass (for pillarless models), sharper angled windshield with newly reshaped vent windows, and redesigned full-coil suspension. The divot in the front grille was stretched to the headlights, the actual lights have a more dominant enclosure, the rear once again has a quarter panel bubble, the hood has a pop-up latch and a wind-split, and it has a tempered rear plate glass window. This was the year Impala set the all-time industry annual sales record with more than 1 million units sold in America. Engine choices included the inline six-cylinder as well as the small-block and big-block V8s. A new three-range Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission was optional for 396 cu in (6.5 L) V8. The old 409 cu in (6.7 L) "W" engine was discontinued early in the 1965 model year, so early-production 1965s got the 409, as well as 1/10 of 1% had the 396 CID big-block. Other later-built cars had the 396 cu in (6.5 L) as the big-block option. Two-speed Powerglide, as well as 3- and 4-speed manual transmissions were available. As with previous years, Impalas featured more chrome trim inside and out, with pleated tufted upholstery and door panels. Today, the Tenth Generation Impalas (2014-present) are still being sold. With the launching of the next generation Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet will move on to the next generation Impala to the same P2XX platform in 2019 as a 2020 model, with GM’s new LGX 3.6 Engine and 9 Speed Transmission. This Impala is not mint but is a good driver quality car. As an FYI, I have read that there were less than 1% of the 1965 Impalas produced and painted in this color. Additionally, it is believed that this Impala also had the in-dash factory tach. The tachometer is still in the Impala and in working condition. As an FYI, I have read that there were less than .4% of the non-SS 1965 Impalas that were produced, optioned with the factory in-dash tachometer. One more consideration is value. According to the NADA Classic Car Values Tool, the 1965 Chevrolet Impala, in Low Retail condition being a factory V8 with a factory 4-speed, comes in at $9,235. This does not take into consideration the rare color and the believed to be factory tachometer. So the bottom line is that this 1965 Impala is not perfect by any means but the asking price is within the range of the average hobbyist and would be a great entry level vehicle into the classic car world. I do know from previous experience that there is never too much information for the serious collectors. So, for all of you numbers people, this is for you. However, the Impala was recently painted blue and should be considered “driver quality. Chrome and bright-work are good. Tires and rims are good. Let’s discuss the sun roof which was not an option on this Impala. We have no idea who or when it was installed. It does not leak. All exterior items work such as: · Head lights; · Tail lights ( passenger’s rear inner light not working; · Blinkers (passenger’s front not working); · Wipers (work but do not always stop when cancelled); Interior: Needs work in mammy areas. 4-speed shift pattern is wrong but functional. (Shifter arms wrong?) All gauges are functional such as: · Radio; · Heater; · Fuel Gauge; · Tachometer; · Speedometer; · Interior Lights; · Dash Lights · Cigarette Lighter. The speedometer and horn are not working. Engine: Original V8 engine is gone. 1971 350/270hp 4bbl and 4-speed engine in the car now. Has power steering. Has headers. What can I say about the engine accept it starts and runs good. Trunk; The trunk pan needs to be replaced. I did not take photos of this. Undercarriage; Good frame. Floor pans should be replaced. The exhaust is OK but should be replaced at some point with mufflers included. 12-bolt rear axle appears to be original. 4-speed appears to be a Saginaw.
